Launched on September 3, the vehicle has received firm orders exceeding 5,000 units within the first 12 hours. The SUV is currently offered with a promotional price range of 289,900–379,900 yuan (42,600–55,900 USD). Design and dimensionsThe Freelander 8 maintains the brand’s “square box” design, inspired by the Concept 97. The front fascia features a closed-off design paired with rectangular headlights. The vehicle’s dimensions are 5,118 mm in length, 2,050 mm in width, and 1,898 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,040 mm. Technology and intelligenceThe vehicle is equipped with a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor and comes standard across all trims with the latest Huawei Qiankun ADS 5.0 intelligent driving system. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 chip. A standout feature is the i-ATS intelligent all-terrain system, co-developed with Huawei, which supports 20 different terrain modes and features front, centre, and rear locking differentials. InteriorInside, the Freelander 8 features a 46.3-inch panoramic display and a 15.6-inch LED central control screen. The cabin is accented with “Paris stud” textured physical buttons and K9-grade optical crystal knobs. For passenger comfort, the second row offers dual zero-gravity seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, complemented by folding tables and an onboard refrigerator. Performance and powertrainThe Freelander 8 is built on an 800V high-voltage extended-range platform, allowing a 20%–80% charge in 12 minutes. It is powered by a 60.3 kWh CATL ternary lithium battery, providing a CLTC pure electric range of 310 km. The powertrain consists of a 1.5T four-cylinder range extender and a dual-motor four-wheel-drive system, delivering a combined output of 610 kW (818 hp) and 813 N·m of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 4.6 seconds. The vehicle also features standard rear-wheel steering (±10°), resulting in a turning radius of ≤5.15 meters. Braking performance is enhanced by front 6-piston fixed callipers and 404 mm ventilated discs, achieving a 100–0 km/h stopping distance of 35.7 meters. The interior of the Freelander 8.
