The cabin disclosure follows earlier Freelander 8 updates covering its pre-launch display activities and infotainment system. The SUV has entered a preview phase in China, with selected dealership display vehicles and a 30-city roadshow announced before official sales begin. Previous information also detailed the model’s large-format display system, including a 46.3-inch panoramic display and a 15.6-inch central control screen. The latest release adds information about the vehicle’s seating arrangement and interior equipment. Six-seat layout becomes cabin focus The Freelander 8 uses a 2+2+2 six-seat layout, with two individual second-row seats and a third-row seating area. Chery JLR describes the second-row seats as zero-gravity seats and lists integrated heating, ventilation, and massage functions. The cabin also includes optional front seat-back tray tables, a ceiling-mounted rear entertainment screen, and third-row armrest cup holders, according to the company’s interior preview information. The SUV measures 5118 mm in length, 2050 mm in width, and 1898 mm in height, with a 3040 mm wheelbase. Regulatory records also list a 5185 mm length, depending on the exterior equipment configuration. Large display and new electronic architecture The Freelander 8’s dashboard features a 46.3-inch 8K panoramic display measuring 1.2 meters in width, paired with a 15.6-inch central control screen. The interior also includes Paris stud physical buttons and K9-grade optical crystal dual floating knobs with 144 facets. The infotainment system uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8397 automotive processor. Qualcomm and Chery JLR have reported higher computing performance than the Snapdragon 8295 platform, including a 12-fold increase in NPU performance. The testing conditions behind these comparisons were not disclosed. The vehicle also uses Huawei Qiankun ADS hardware and software. Chinese media reports have described different possible configurations, including Huawei ADS 4.1 with an 896-line lidar system and ADS 5 with a quad-lidar setup. The final production specification requires confirmation. EREV specifications The Freelander 8 uses an 800V extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) platform with a 1.5T range-extender engine producing 115 kW and a 60.331 kWh CATL Freevoy ternary NMC battery. Chery JLR lists a WLTC pure electric range of 221 km. Previously disclosed specifications also include a peak charging input of 350 kW and a maximum rated towing capacity of 2000 kg. The Freelander 8 is scheduled to enter the Chinese market in the second half of 2026. The latest cabin information adds details about its seating configuration, while pricing, production targets, delivery schedules, and final trim specifications have not been announced.
