The Freelander 8 will enter the Chinese market shortly. Later, it will go global with the Middle East as the main focus. The first mass-produced Freelander 8 SUV rolled off the production line at the CJLR Changshu plant. It initially opened in 2014 as the first JLR full-scale manufacturing facility outside the UK with an annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles. As mentioned, CJLR ceased all production of all petrol-powered models as its sales dropped to approximately 26,000 units by 2025. The Freelander 8 SUV began mass production in China The first mass-produced Freelander 8 was finished in green. The car rolled off the production line and parked in front of the banner that said, “Celebration of the first Freelander offline No. 00,000,001.” Chery Jaguar Land Rover clearly hints at its ambition to turn the Freelander into a volume-seller. It comes standard with six seats and a 2+2+2 layout. Inside, the Freelander 8 has a 46.3-inch panoramic screen and a 15.6-inch monitor. Other highlights include 256-color ambient lighting and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 automotive-grade chip. The car utilizes Huawei’s assisted driving system with an 896-line LiDAR. The Freelander 8 is an EREV. It has a 1.5-liter ICE under the hood acting as a generator. It doesn’t transfer any torque to the wheels. Instead, this ICE sends energy to a 60.331 kWh ternary NMC battery. There is no information about the car’s electric motors. However, the electric range of the Freelander 8 reaches 221 km. It also has a dual-chamber air suspension, a front mechanical differential lock, a rear electronic limited-slip differential, and a virtual center differential structure.
