CATL’s Choco-SEB plans to deploy more than 3,000 stations across over 140 cities by 2026. CATL’s Chocolate Swapping Electric Block (Choco-SEB) network has reached a total of 1,107 stations nationwide as of Jan 22, covering 46 core cities across China. Network expansion has continued to accelerate. Between Jan. 8 and Jan. 21 alone, Choco-SEB added 41 new stations and opened 47 stations for operation nationwide. CATL’s Choco-SEB network has reached a total of 1,107 stations nationwide The rollout pace has exceeded earlier expectations. As of Dec. 30 last year, the number of Choco-SEB stations had already surpassed 1,000, with 1,020 stations deployed across 45 cities. From the launch of its first station to achieving a network of more than 1,000 sites, the company took just one year. Previously, CATL had stated plans to build 1,000 Choco-SEB stations across 45 cities by the end of 2025, and to expand the network to more than 2,500 stations in around 120 cities by 2026. After exceeding its initial targets ahead of schedule, CATL has revised its roadmap upward. Choco-SEB now plans to deploy more than 3,000 stations across over 140 cities by 2026, while simultaneously launching a highway battery swap network. Its long-term goal is to scale the network to 30,000 stations and open it to third-party partners through a franchise model. CATL’s Choco-SEB station Alongside network expansion, CATL is advancing its technology roadmap. Chocolate Battery Swap has confirmed that it will integrate CATL’s sodium-ion battery brand “Naxtra”, with large-scale deployment of high-performance sodium-ion batteries planned from 2026. The rapid buildout of battery swap stations directly reflects the continued growth of China’s new energy vehicle fleet. In 2025, domestic retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles reached 12.809 million units, up 17.6% year on year, according to CPCA. As charging and refueling demand continues to rise, battery swapping is emerging as an important complement to fast charging, with network density and accessibility becoming key factors influencing consumer choice. From an industry perspective, NIO is also expanding its battery swap footprint. To date, NIO has deployed 3,702 battery swap stations nationwide, including 1,017 highway stations. Cumulative swap operations have exceeded 98 million, with average daily swaps surpassing 100,000.
