According to CATL, this new framework focuses on creating a repeatable methodology for freight electrification. The partnership intends to move beyond isolated pilot projects by fostering an open ecosystem that integrates logistics demand with advanced energy solutions. A collaborative ecosystem for sustainable logistics The initiative seeks to leverage the combined expertise of both companies to address the complexities of transitioning to low-emission logistics. Key areas of cooperation include: Green Corridor identification: Strategically mapping routes for electrification. OEM engagement: Collaborating with electric vehicle manufacturers. Infrastructure deployment: Developing both mobile and stationary charging solutions. Battery swapping: Implementing pilot projects to support heavy-duty transport. Notable contributors to this ecosystem include: Quibo Energy: An intelligent energy infrastructure company backed by CATL and Xiaomi, specialising in mobile power plant solutions. FleetBoost: A provider of flexible, high-power charging and energy-storage systems, including the “FleetBooster” series, which integrates CATL battery technology. Credit: Quibo Scaling zero-emission freight Akin Li, Executive President of CATL Overseas Business, emphasised that successful freight electrification requires a holistic approach: “By combining real logistics demand with vehicles, charging, energy storage, battery swapping and lifecycle services, CATL plans to work with DHL and other ecosystem partners to create practical and scalable solutions for zero-emission freight.” For DHL Group, the partnership is a critical step toward its corporate goal of achieving net-zero logistics-related emissions by 2050.
