The Chinese brand’s E5 is available to lease via the Auto Express Buy A Car service for just £231.44 per month – more than seven times cheaper than the Range Rover it looks a little bit like. The deal is being offered by VIPGateway, and gets you behind the wheel of an E5 Pure over a period of 24 months. Two things to be aware of, however, are the £3,162.18 initial payment and a 5,000-mile annual limit. Thankfully, however, you can increase the annual mileage to 8,000 – more than the average driver covers in a year – and reduce the initial payment to £2,180, and the deal remains under £300 per month, at £299.27 to be exact. That’s still five times cheaper per month than a full-size Range Rover, which starts from around £1,600 per month. In fact, even the smaller Range Rover Evoque will cost you more than £700 per month – over double the price of the Jaecoo. In total, this deal will cost you £9,063.77 with the increased mileage and smaller initial payment, or £8,485.11 for the initial offering. Taking into account residual value projections by cap HPI, both deals are potentially several thousands of pounds cheaper than buying the car outright then selling it on two years later. All of this is arguably even more impressive given that it’s not the base petrol model we’re talking about here – the Jaecoo E5 is the fully electric version of the brand’s small SUV, with a 61kWh battery pack providing 250 miles of range. A 0-62mph time of 7.7 seconds means it’s rather nippy, too.Aside from the usual Jaecoo pseudo-luxury 4x4 styling, the E5 comes with all of the essentials including 18-inch alloy wheels, a 13.2-inch touchscreen with digital instruments plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a surround-view camera system and adaptive cruise control.
