The figure is below the previously disclosed 300,000–350,000 yuan price range and emerged weeks before the model’s anticipated launch in late June or early July, according to Y-Auto. Flagship sedan targets premium EV segment The Seal 08 was first previewed globally in March and represents the largest sedan yet in BYD’s Ocean lineup. Earlier regulatory disclosures, we reviewed a vehicle measuring 5,150 mm long with a 3,030 mm wheelbase, placing it firmly in China’s large executive sedan category. The model adopts BYD’s Ocean Aesthetics 2.0 design language, featuring a fastback profile, full-width rear lighting, semi-hidden door handles, and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. Five exterior colours have been revealed so far: Coral Red, Cloud White, Silver Glow, Sea Mist Purple, and Poseidon Green. Flash charging and rear-wheel steering headline technology package Previous reporting indicated the Seal 08 would become one of the most technically advanced sedans in BYD’s portfolio, combining an 800V high-voltage platform with second-generation Blade Battery technology. The architecture supports flash charging, with BYD claiming that five minutes of charging can add approximately 400 km to the driving range. Earlier disclosures also indicated a maximum CLTC range of 1,000 km for selected battery-electric variants. Beyond charging performance, the sedan integrates rear-wheel steering and the DiSus-A intelligent air suspension system. Rear-wheel steering reduces the turning radius of a large vehicle by allowing the rear wheels to steer independently at low speeds while improving stability during high-speed lane changes. Combined with adaptive air suspension, the setup aims to balance luxury-car ride comfort with manoeuvrability in urban environments. Y-Auto revealed a leaked image of the Seal 08 EV’s pricing. Interior focuses on luxury equipment Leaked information indicates the Seal 08 will offer dual front zero-gravity seats, ventilation, heating and massage functions for all seats, double-layer acoustic glass, powered soft-close doors, and multiple magnetic accessory mounting points throughout the cabin. The flagship interior adopts a new Ocean Aesthetics 2.0 cockpit design centred around a large floating infotainment display and digital instrument cluster. Sales context The Seal 08 arrives as BYD seeks to refresh its sedan lineup. According to China EV DataTracker, domestic retail sales of the Seal 07 DM-i reached 615 units in May 2026, down 2.1% month-on-month and 77.5% year-on-year. Monthly sales have remained below 700 units since December 2025, creating room for a new flagship model positioned above the existing sedan range. If the leaked dealer figure proves accurate, the Seal 08 could enter the market with a significantly lower starting threshold than initially expected while bringing several technologies previously reserved for higher-end premium EVs.
