On March 11, BYD announced that it has officially joined the International Automotive Task Force (IATF). Within the organization’s framework, BYD will participate alongside international automakers such as Volkswagen and General Motors in developing and improving global automotive standards. BYD joined IATF The IATF was established in 1999 by major global automotive industry associations and automakers. The organization is known for developing and maintaining global automotive quality management system standards. Its certification framework is widely adopted by international automakers and supply chain companies and has long been regarded as one of the key gateways to entering the global automotive supply chain. BYD’s membership in the IATF was nominated by AIAG and approved through a vote by all IATF members. Historically, the organization’s membership structure has been dominated by European and American automakers and related institutions, with Chinese automakers rarely participating. Geely joined the organization in April 2021, becoming the tenth automotive group member and gaining board voting rights. At the business level, BYD has significantly accelerated its global expansion in recent years. BYD EVs exported from China In 2025, the company sold 4.6024 million vehicles, securing the global new energy vehicle sales crown for the fourth consecutive year. Overseas markets have become a major growth driver. BYD’s annual overseas sales of passenger vehicles and pickup trucks reached 1.0496 million units, representing year-on-year growth of 145%. In February this year, BYD’s overseas sales of new energy passenger vehicles reached 100,151 units, accounting for 52.6% of its total monthly sales and marking the first time that overseas sales exceeded domestic deliveries in a single month. Currently, BYD’s new energy vehicles are available in 119 countries and regions, with sales continuing to grow in markets such as Brazil, Australia, the United Kingdom and Singapore.
