Bugatti is ramping up testing of its $20 million 1,600 PS Brouillard hypercar ahead of customer delivery. The ultra-rare unit was recently spotted testing its launch control on an airfield, and the composed run, accompanied by only a wisp of tire smoke, showcased just how smoothly the hypercar accelerated off the line. The Brouillard was introduced at The Quail last year as the inaugural creation of Bugatti's new bespoke coachbuilding program, Programme Solitaire. The one-of-one hypercar is based on the Chiron platform and powered by the 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine also used in the Bugatti Mistral. The Supercar Blog recently reported that the Brouillard was being tested on public roads as part of the company's pre-delivery testing. The hypercar features a striking metallic green exterior, complemented by exposed carbon fiber along the lower body and unique black wheels that made the car stand out on city streets. Inside, Bugatti has gone for an equally bespoke approach, combining custom-woven upholstery with green-tinted carbon-fiber elements and aluminum accents.AdvertisementAdvertisementNow, though, the Brouillard's sighting at an airfield has raised excitement levels. While the location of the test has not been revealed, a video of the run has raised eyebrows over how smoothly the hypercar took off without any apparent drama.Bugatti stated that the Brouillard celebrates the company's founder, Ettore Bugatti's love for horses:"The inaugural creation of the Programme Solitaire is the BUGATTI BROUILLARD, a breathtaking coupé that pays homage to Ettore Bugatti's passion for equestrianism. Named after the faithful companion who could open his own stable door thanks to a special mechanism designed by Ettore himself, this hypercar celebrates the founder's deep love of horses and his favorite among them all. He was the embodiment of everything Ettore admired: speed, beauty, and unparalleled grace."Image Credit: BugattiBugatti Brouillard Performance StatsEngine and PowerAdvertisementAdvertisementEngine: 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16Horsepower: 1,578 hp (1,600 PS) at maximum outputTorque: 1,180 lb-ft (1,600 Nm) at 2,250 rpmAcceleration (0-62 mph / 0-100 km/h): 2.5 secondsTop Speed: 380 km/h (236 mph)Drivetrain and BuildTransmission: Dual-clutch automaticDrivetrain: All-wheel driveChassis: Carbon fiber and aluminum monocoque
