You can’t miss BMW’s new “Double-X” lights, which debut on the all-electric iX5 and X5. The new iX5 was spotted testing ahead of its upcoming US launch, giving us a look at the new lighting signature in real life. When is BMW launching the iX5? After BMW opened orders for the all-new iX5 in Europe this week, those in the US will get their chance soon. For its fifth generation, the new BMW X5 is available in gas, diesel, plug-in hybrid, hydrogen, and, for the first time, a fully electric version. The 2027 iX5 60 xDrive uses BMW’s sixth-generation (Gen6) eDrive system and an 800V architecture, like the new iX3 and i3, to deliver impressive range and charging speeds. It also supports bidirectional charging, so you can use it as a mobile power bank for external electronics like camping gear or an e-bike. The 2027 BMW iX5 60 xDrive has a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain, delivering a combined 578 hp (425 kW) and 593 lb-ft of torque, which BMW says enables it to hit 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. All new BMW X5 models adopt its Neue Klasse design, but remain closer in style to a traditional SUV. The new BMW Kidney Iconic Glow is at the center, but the X5 and iX5 debut a unique new light signature. BMW’s new “Double-X” lights combine the low-beam headlights, daytime running lights, side lights, and turn signals into one unit.
