The case reportedly unraveled after a clerk flagged a suspicious title. A Hellcat with a mismatched model year drew early attention to the doctor. Authorities say more co-defendants could still face charges as it unfolds. Authorities in Houston County, Georgia, have accused an experienced surgeon of buying stolen vehicles and using them for his own rental car fleet. If the allegations are true, living on a surgeon’s salary may not have been enough for 47-year-old Dr. Patrick Narh-Martey. The doctor was arrested on April 10 and charged with 10 counts of theft by receiving stolen property, in addition to nine counts of possession of a vehicle with altered VINs. It appears the police began investigating the man after an incident in July 2024. According to an employee, the surgeon brought in a vehicle title she believed was fake, noting that the VIN could not be found in the national database. Around the same time, Narh-Martey said he purchased a 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat for his rental car fleet and received the car’s title in the mail. Once again, the VIN could not be found in any state, and the title noted that the vehicle was, in fact, a 2021 Challenger. The 47-year-old escaped charges, but the investigation didn’t stop. This Was No Mistake According to Houston County District Attorney Eric Edwards, the surgeon had intentionally been purchasing stolen vehicles and swapping out the VINs so they could be used in his rental car business. At least 13 vehicles are involved in the case, all of which have been reported stolen from states across the country. Nahr-Martey is currently being held at the Houston County Jail as the investigation continues. Edwards says that other co-defendants in the case may also face prosecution, although no other arrest warrants have been issued.
