2027 Ram ProMaster City could be the right-sized commercial van for thousands of small businesses. It seats, two, five, or eight and fits over 167 cu ft of cargo on a 111-inch-long load‑floor (over 9 feet) and sports over 48 inches between the rear wheel wells—enough room for two standard US pallets front to back. With a targeted 2,000 lbs of towing capability and over 2,000 lbs of payload, it hauls a ton and tows a ton.Pricing will be announced closer to launch at the beginning of next year, but Ram says it’ll start under $40,000. Commercial vans are the unsung heroes of the global workforce, hauling plumbing supplies, auto parts, electrical fittings, floral arrangements, and mobile dog-grooming salons across America to the benefit of us all. Such professionals will have another option next year when the 2027 Ram ProMaster City returns to the Ram lineup after an absence of four years. The Ram brand is in the middle of a comeback that includes: bringing back the Hemi, releasing the TRX monster truck, re-entering the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (Top 10 finish at St. Pete!), and now this, bringing back a mid-sized work van that’ll be perfect for so many businesses. The ProMaster City will debut at the Work Truck Association’s “Work Truck Week” going on right now at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. Surely the reveal of the 2027 Ram ProMaster City will be a high point of that gathering. Perhaps the high point. The ProMaster takes advantage of Stellantis's worldwide platform-sharing. It’s based on the company’s global mid-size commercial van platform. Travel around and you’ll see something similar with the name Fiat Scudo, Citroën Dispatch, and Vauxhall Vivaro. Our ProMaster City will be built in Turkey.2027 Ram ProMaster CityRam brings back the ProMaster City for 2027 as a panel van or a passenger hauler, with seating for two, five, or eight people and room for over 167 cu ft of cargo volume. Its squared-off cargo area provides a 111-inch-long load‑floor (that’s over 9 feet) and over 48 inches between the rear wheel wells—enough room for two standard US pallets front to back (they had a pallet with a Hemi on it at the intro, just so they could say the ProMaster had a Hemi, hahaha). It only comes with one engine choice: a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel aimed at fleet efficiency as well as cargo capacity. That powerplant makes 166 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque—almost the same hp and 13 more lb-ft than the Mercedes Sprinter!). It’s mated to an Aisin eight-speed automatic.“It’s the perfect powertrain setup,” said Matt Huber, the totally unbiased senior vice president of Ram Brand Product at Stellantis.Ram engineers targeted 2,000 lbs of towing capability and over 2,000 lbs of payload just so they could say ProMaster City hauls a ton and tows a ton. Good marketing, and true, too.“When the new ProMaster City arrives at dealerships early next year, it will be the only mid-size commercial van on sale in the US,” said Tim Kuniskis, the newly returned head of North American Brands, SRT Performance Division, and Retail Marketing. “Despite our unique market position, Ram Professional isn’t coasting; we’re raising the competitive bar and delivering on small business expectations.”ProMaster City is available in Tradesman and SLT trims, and in Cargo Van or Passenger Wagon configuration. The 2027 ProMaster City arrives in the first quarter of next year, and while pricing won’t be released until closer to launch, Ram says it’s aiming for a “targeted starting price under $40,000, the lowest cost of acquisition in the commercial van segment.”Ladies and Gentlemen, start your small businesses!
