To mark 50 years of Audi's famous five-cylinder engine, the German automaker has unveiled a new incarnation of the potent Audi RS3, dubbed the Audi RS3 Competition Limited. What might disappoint some is that its powertrain has remained unchanged, delivering nearly 400 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque as in the standard Audi RS3.Despite no power bump, the Audi RS3 Competition Limited is the gnarliest and rarest iteration of the five-cylinder-powered German, one that is chock-full of hardware and visual elements no other RS3 is privy to. Better Handling Through Suspension Upgrades Audi RS3 Competition Limited 4Sure, we didn't get a healthy bump in power output for the latest and arguably the greatest iteration of the Audi RS3 so far, but we did get a significant upgrade to the RS3's suspension system. For the first time in the RS3's history, it is supported by a specially tuned three-way adjustable coilover suspension system. This three-way adjustable system allows high- and low-speed compression, as well as adjustable rebound, all of which can be manually adjusted using tools and instructions included with the Audi RS3 Competition Limited. The Audi RS3 Competition Limited also employs new twin-tube shock absorbers. At the front, Audi has relied on stainless steel, whereas the rear features shock absorbers made of aluminum, chosen specifically for the Audi RS3 Competition Limited, to offer greater stiffness and larger volumes, thereby improving hydraulic fluid cooling. Another aspect unique to the Competition Limited model compared to the standard RS3 is the rear dampers, which are not only larger but also feature thicker piston rods for greater rigidity and more stable mounting. Greater Stability In The Rear 2026 Audi RS 3 competition limited Sedan Exterior 5 Front ViewNot only does the Audi RS3 Competition Limited have a better suspension system than the standard RS3, but it also offers greater rear stability. That stability is the result of a new rear tubular stabilizer with a thicker wall than the stabilizer used in the standard Audi RS3. Compared to the standard model, this rear stabilizer has a stiffness of 85 N/mm, with spring rates at the rear increased to 80 N/mm.Adding a thicker stabilizer improves stability when accelerating out of a corner. Alongside the adjustments made to the suspension system, the rear stabilizer is a key factor in the Audi RS3 Competition Limited's greater handling and poise compared to the standard Audi RS3. It's More Vocal 2025 Audi RS3-2076With greater stability and handling, the Audi RS3 Competition Limited is also distinguished mechanically from the standard Audi RS3 by its exhaust system. Both rely on the same RS exhaust system, but in the Competition Limited, Audi's iconic five-cylinder engine is paired to an exhaust system whose valves open earlier in modes such as Audi Dynamic, RS Performance, and RS Torque Rear.In addition to the revised exhaust system, Audi has removed insulation around the firewall, which has removed roughly 8.8 lbs and resulted in a more palpable sound in the cabin. New Aerodynamic Bits And Pieces 2026 Audi RS 3 competition limited Lead ImageAudi introduced a refreshed version of the fourth-generation Audi RS3 in 2024. It was the handful of effective enhancements to chassis control systems, such as the torque splitter, and improvements to suspension tuning that allowed it to become the fastest car in its class around the Nürburgring. However, Audi didn't introduce new aerodynamic elements in that 2024 refresh, but that's been rectified in the Audi RS3 Competition Limited. It features a pair of carbon fiber canards on the front corners of the RS3, visually similar to the vertical blades on the RS3's air curtain. Unique to the Competition Limited is a rear spoiler that enhances its dynamics, alongside other new aerodynamic elements, such as a split chin spoiler, all of which improve the balance between the front and rear wheels. More Carbon Fiber 2026 Audi RS 3 competition limited Sedan Exterior 9 Front Quarter StudioCarbon fiber looks great on almost anything, although we've seen aftermarket companies push the limits. That said, the Competition Limited doesn't stand out solely because of the performance upgrades, but also because it enhanced its exterior design with a tasteful dollop of carbon fiber. These elements include the mirror caps, side skirts, the trim above the diffuser, and the new rear spoiler, all finished in matte carbon. It's worth noting that these elements stand out not only because they elevate the Audi RS3's visual appeal, but also because they are standard on the Competition Limited, while the standard RS3 must be outfitted with Audi's optional carbon fiber package, which costs $2,850. Unique Exterior Design Elements 2026 Audi RS 3 competition limited Sportback Exterior 12The new carbon fiber and aerodynamic elements are a part of the Audi RS3 Competition Limited's character, being significant aspects of the overall design. Alongside those exterior aspects, Audi has also introduced a new color for the 19-inch ten-spoke wheels, dubbed Neodymium gold.Additionally, the Competition Limited employs a unique darkened version of the RS3's matrix LED headlights, which display the five-pot's unique 1-2-4-5-3 firing order when locking or unlocking the car. The Audi RS3 Competition Limited also wears unique badges finished in Audi's heritage colors at both ends. An Exclusive Paint Option 2026 Audi RS 3 competition limited Sportback Exterior 10The last defining aspect of the Competition Limited's exterior is the exclusive colors available for this trim. Audi offers a model-specific exterior color called Malachite green, which the German automaker says is inspired by the distinctive Malachite Green colorway seen on Audi's iconic Audi Sport quattro.Interestingly, only 15 of the 214 examples of the Audi Sport quattro were finished in Malachite Green. Beyond the exclusive Malachite green, customers can spec the Competition Limited in two other colors: Daytona grey and the recently released Glacier white matte. Subtle Nods To Audi's Icons Audi RS3 Competition LimitedThe exclusive Malachite Green color option is not the only link to one of Audi's most iconic models. When Audi introduced the first RS model, the Audi RS2 Avant in 1994, the sought-after German super wagon featured white instrument dials that became defining aspects of the first RS model. The Competition Limited's virtual cockpit features a similar arrangement to its digital instrument cluster, distinguished by a white background as a nod to the Audi RS2 Avant. The new white instrument background is not the only unique element in the Competition Limited's cabin. New Cabin Details 2026 Audi RS 3 competition limited Sedan Interior 5 Steering WheelThe Audi RS3 Competition Limited's cabin features a handful of unique design elements. Stepping into the cabin, the door lighting displays a new "RS 3 Competition Limited" logo on the floor, which also appears on the trunk floor mats, the headrests, and the back row floor mats. A matte serial number is etched into the front of the shifter, while the RS bucket seats are finished in Dinamica microfiber in Neodymium gold, which is also used in the center of the back row seats, juxtaposed with the black leather bolsters.Another unique design element of the Competition Limited is the Ginger white strip at the top of the flat-bottomed steering wheel. Ginger white also appears as the contrast stitching on the steering wheel and on the seats. It's One Of The Rarest Audi RS3 Models Ever Made 2026 Audi RS 3 competition limited Sportback Exterior 1As a refresher, the Audi RS3 Competition Limited is the most performance-focused example of the current generation Audi RS3. Beyond those significant suspension changes, the gnarliest RS3 ever introduced an entirely new technology to the RS3 moniker, along with aerodynamic and visual enhancements that have come from Audi's efforts to enhance the Audi RS3. Representing the pinnacle of the Audi RS3 line, the Competition Limited lives up to its name, with only 750 examples produced worldwide: 585 are Sportbacks, and 165 are Sedans. However, the increased athleticism and the array of features that would otherwise be optional on the standard Audi RS3 are partly to blame for the significant price jump, alongside the car's exclusivity. The standard 2026 Audi RS3 has an MSRP of $67,990, whereas the Sportback version of the Audi RS3 Competition Limited costs nearly double that when adjusting for current exchange rates. The same goes for the sedan variant of the Competition Limited. The question then is whether the changes, improvements, and benefits of carbon fiber are worth buying, considering that it costs nearly twice as much as the standard Audi RS3?
