It's Not Just Mitsubishi Drivers: Most Car Owners Don’t Know Their Features

Owners are growing frustrated with new vehicle technology, with many features going unused or causing problems, Kelley Blue Book stated, citing J.D. Power's 2024 U.S. Tech Experience Study.

The study, which surveyed 81,926 owners of new 2024 model-year vehicles, found that "owners find some technologies of little use and/or are continually annoying.”

Kelley Blue Book notes that while some technologies like smart climate control have quickly won popularity, others "unsuccessfully try to solve a problem that owners didn't know they had."

Interestingly, Mitsubishi scored 425 out of 1,000 points in the study—placing it in the middle of mainstream brands. This suggests that while the Outlander may have useful features like those Hope discovered, the brand still has room to improve when it comes to making technology intuitive and user-friendly.

WardsAuto reports that dealer demonstrations are crucial to helping owners actually use the technology they're paying for. When dealers take time to demonstrate vehicle features at delivery, owners are more likely to engage with and appreciate those technologies.

The research found that for more than one in three advanced technologies, fewer than half of owners have used the technology in the first 90 days of ownership, often because they simply don't know how it works or don't understand its value.

Commenters React to 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Features

“They’re definitely not what you pay for we got into a wreck and found out the car was mostly made out of plastic,” a person said.

“Best thing I’ve ever had in a Mitsubishi Evo was being able to change the blinker sound. THAT WAS THE COOLEST THING EVER,” another wrote.

“I have a 2022 outlander with the same exact features sad to see they don’t improve/increase benefits over the years!!!” a commenter added.
