Why Was This Woman’s Jeep Lemon Law Claim Denied? Here’s What to Know Before You File One

A woman has had an infuriating summer thanks to spending nearly four months trying to fix a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee.

In mid-August @dailydose.of_d said the 2025 vehicle has been in a Connecticut repair shop for over 30 days. Now she’s trying to file a Lemon Law claim, but keeps getting denied.

“Now I have to hire a lawyer for them to tell them the same exact thing [I did]?” she says in a TikTok about the experience.

The longtime Jeep Wrangler driver posted her first post-purchase Tiktok on May 13. In it, she laments the acquisition.

“I’m so over Jeep,” she says, “I’ve been a Wrangler girl for eight years [...] So now I’m a little older (eep) and I was like, ‘Let me get something get into something more family oriented.’”

She went to her local dealership and leased a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Blinded by the Lights

“I had the car for just a few days, not even a week,” she explains, “and I had a hard time starting [it]. So I contact my dealer, I brought it in. They’re like ‘Oh, the codes don’t really match.’”

Viral bits from across the social media landscape

Our team of experts tracks what's trending so you don't have to—from viral videos to online debates that have everyone talking.

“Then, the next time I had a hard time starting, all the lights were flashing. Like, has this happened to anyone else,” she asks.

People online offered help and ideas. Self-described “car girly,” Savanna commented, “Did some research and there are two huge recalls. One for the DTCM which communicates with the ESC and could cause the light I saw on your dash.”

Other suggestions included Chris 399’s ruthless, “Then sell it, problem solved.”

Overwhelmingly, the advice was to retain an expert.

“Seek lemon law attorney … no cost to you. I just had my car lemoned… I paid nothing to attorney… I’m in Florida … plus I made an extra 10k off of it,” counseled Lauren Southard.

Lemon Law Time

In May, @dailydose.of_d says she went through two rental cars, many flashing lights, and three trips to the dealership.

“I did my research, and in Connecticut Lemon Law is if there are four attempts to fix an issue or, the car is in the shop for 30 days, they need to give you a new car,” she says.

But as of September, her Lemon Law claim has been “denied, denied, denied,” she writes on her ninth TikTok in the ongoing series.

“I fall under the consumer protection Lemon Law because my car had safety features disengage, it didn’t start, all those things. Five times for the repair, over 30 days in the shop and the arbitrators denied my claim,” she says.

She says they told her it was denied because “the issues with my car didn’t affect the safety, the value, or anything about the car.”

She’s not done seeking relief, however.

“I’m going to take my documents and re-upload them through the National Consumer Protection Law,” she says. “And hopefully those arbitrators will be competent.”

Who Qualifies and How to File

In Connecticut, passenger vehicles that are purchased or leased are covered for the first two years or 24,000 miles.

The law also includes language that covers use, safety and value of the vehicle and notes that repairs must have been attempted in the eligibility period. Manufacturer’s defects are also noted.

Although Lemon Laws vary from state to state, there is a federal law that covers similar situations: the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

In many ways, the national law echoes state laws. However, there is one important difference: the federal law has no mileage restrictions.

The takeaway? If you hear any clunk, thud, or screech that’s out of sync with your new car, document it, follow up, and be persistent.
