Jeep has brought the Trailhawk badge back to the Cherokee, and this time the off-road hardware backs up the name. The 2027 Cherokee Trailhawkadds a lift, a low-range two-speed transfer case, and all-terrain rubber to the reborn crossover. Jeep lists a starting price of $44,625, a figure that includes the $1,995 destination charge. That puts it a notch under the $45,125 Cherokee Overland, and orders are open now with production due later this year. What Makes It a TrailhawkThe suspension is the headline. Unique springs and dampers deliver a 1-inch (25 mm) lift and 9 inches (229 mm) of ground clearance. That lift, plus a clearance-maximizing front bumper, pushes the geometry to 28.8 degrees approach, 31.8 departure, and 21.9 breakover. For reference, the standard Cherokee manages 19.6, 29.4, and 18.8. Water fording depth is rated at 24 inches (610 mm). Underneath are skid plates, and the 17-inch wheels wear Nexen Rodian ATX all-terrain tires. Front and rear you'll find red recovery hooks, an anti-glare hood graphic, fog lights, and gloss black accents that set the Trailhawk apart visually. The 4x4 SystemThe most meaningful upgrade is the Active Drive II 4×4 system. Jeep gives the transfer case two speeds with a low range, dropping the crawl ratio to 37.5:1. No low range is available on the standard Cherokee at all, so this is the part that separates trail talk from real trail capability. A Selec-Terrain system adds Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud, and Rock modes.Powertrain and Trade-OffsMotivation comes from a hybrid setup pairing a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with a pair of electric motors, a CVT, and a 1.08 kWh battery. Combined output is 210 hp (157 kW) and 230 lb-ft (312 Nm). The off-road gear costs fuel economy, though. Jeep quotes 33 mpg city, 29 highway, and 31 combined, a 6 mpg drop across the board versus the standard model. Available packages bump towing capacity to 3,500 lb (1,588 kg). Inside, the Trailhawk swaps in Mantis Green seats trimmed with red contrast stitching. The dash pairs a 10.25-inch digital gauge display with a 12.3-inch touchscreen for infotainment.
