American Muscle cars are anything but small. They have large wheel bases, great big engines, and often a tremendous amount of power. While they work well here in the States, driving them in other parts of the world can be a challenge. The folks over at Top Dead Center just reminded the world of that when they took a classic Mustang and El Camino for a ride through the narrow roads of the English Countryside. They weren't complaining, though. By the end of their trip, they understood why Americans love these types of cars so much. American Muscle Meets The Countryside Top Dead Center, YouTube A lot of things make American Muscle cars awesome machines. They've got massive V8s that can help them accelerate extremely quickly. They're big enough for all of your friends to get in on the action. The sky's the limit when it comes to performance potential. If all of that's not enough, the styling is the best in the world. Maybe I'm a bit biased, but at least the crew at Top Dead Center seems to agree. In their latest upload, the TDC team got their hands on a 1965 Ford Mustang GT350 clone, and a 1968 El Camino, and took them for a ride through the English countryside. As you may know, English roads aren't exactly built for cars of this stature. That means driving them is a trick already. To make it even more of a challenge, neither one of these cars is exactly stock.Top Dead Center, YouTubeThe Mustang isn't a true Shelby, but it is a fine-tuned machine with a modified 289 V8 under the hood. It's far more powerful than stock, producing something in the neighborhood of 400 horsepower. The El Camino is equally as poten with a signature Chevrolet trick up its sleeve. The 350 under the hood is stroked out to an absolute torque mill of a 383.Watching these cars cruise through England is a trip. They're so much bigger than anything else on the road. They're also louder, faster, and flashier than everything they roll by. The hosts clearly have their hands full in trying to maneuver through windy streets and backroads, but they still find plenty of opportunities to let those V8s work their magic. It’ll Make You A Believer Top Dead Center, YouTube The best part of this video is watching the hosts' reactions. While they toss in a couple of jokes, ribbing Americans, the smiles on their faces say it all when they open the throttle. The brute force of American muscle has a charm unlike any other. Maybe not the most practical choice in every country, but they steal hearts wherever they go.
