VW ID.4's Successor Will Be Called ID. TiguanVolkswagenVolkswagen has confirmed that the ID.4's replacement will be called ID. Tiguan. While we're told the first electric Tiguan will debut a completely new design, which is camouflaged in these photos, we don't know anything else. The VW ID. Tiguan will first launch in the European market early next year, but it will eventually be sold in the United States too.Earlier this year, Volkswagen ended production of the ID.4 electric SUV, though the company said a replacement is coming. Well, VW has now confirmed that the new model will be called the ID. Tiguan. What else do we know? Not too much, outside of what we can see from these photos of camouflaged prototypes.VolkswagenFrom the photos, we can tell that the new electric Tiguan will have a smooth shape that's similar to the old ID.4. However, it's clear that the disguised model has new lighting signatures, with the front now featuring a full-width light bar and the taillights adopting a rectangular look that's different from the ID.4 and gas-fed Tiguan. We'll have to wait a while for specifics, but we expect the ID. Tiguan to have some similarities to the ID.4, such as offering single- or dual-motor powertrains and a driving range that exceeds its predecessor, which had EPA estimates of 263 to 291 miles.Volkswagen will reveal the new ID. Tiguan sometime in October. While it will go on sale first in Europe, with that launch planned for early next year, we've been told that it will also come to the United States. VW says it will share more details about the U.S.-spec model in the coming months.➡️ Skip the lot.
