Image Credit: Sunrise Police DepartmentI've only been stopped by an officer a handful of times in my life, and during every one of those stops, I didn't think to pull out my phone. Honestly, there really wasn't a reason to; I'd been speeding, had run a stop sign, or whatever else absolutely warranted the stop.I've also never had to worry about my glove box not opening up because my Tesla just wouldn't let it, but that will make more sense once you watch the video below. The Sunrise Police Department posted a video to their YouTube channel that details a few random traffic stops that were conducted that day. However, two of those stops were pretty interesting for two different reasons. One driver's glove box wouldn't open, and another driver pulled out his phone to take pictures just before being pulled over.AdvertisementAdvertisementYou'd think a cop wouldn't have to be the one to tell you, "Don't take pictures while getting pulled over."Tesla's Electronic Glove Box Picks the Worst Time To Stop WorkingPlease give the following video a second to load completely. The first stop of the day was for a burgundy-colored Tesla that was speeding on what looks to be a residential street. When the officer approached the driver's side window and asked for the driver's insurance and registration, the man had some interesting news: his Tesla wasn't letting him open the glove box where the registration was.Fortunately, the officer was able to get the information he needed differently, but it was definitely odd to see him be a witness to a piece of equipment on such an expensive vehicle simply not working. The driver tried to say that it should have opened since the car was in park, but realistically, that doesn't make sense to begin with.AdvertisementAdvertisementSo, with that, the officer went back into his patrol car and wrote the driver a ticket for driving 75 miles per hour in a 45-mile-per-hour zone. Let's hope he can get someone to fix that glove box before the next time he gets pulled over.Another Driver Starts Taking Pictures Before He's Even Pulled OverAs the rest of the day moves on, the second weird traffic stop happens with a younger gentleman driving a white GMC Sierra pickup truck. The driver said he hadn't been pulled over before and was actually driving his stepdad's car. While the officer was checking out all the relevant information back in his cruiser, he noted to the camera that he saw the guy pull out his phone and raise it in the air just before being pulled over, as though documenting the stop.To this, the officer says, "I guess that's the cool thing to do now. I don't know, but I will tell him not to do that while he's driving." He then gives the driver his citation and, of course, warns him about taking photos while driving.Viewers Can't Get Over the Tesla's Electronic Glove BoxComments were all over the place, focusing on different parts of the video. However, one of the comments with the most likes was about the Tesla, reading, "If anyone ever pulls that glove box thing tell them just tap the speaker button on steering wheel and say "open glovebox" easy peasy." To this, someone replied with, "What a stupid design."AdvertisementAdvertisementSimilarly, another comment read, "Having an electronic glovebox has got to be one of the stupidest things ever conceived. Elon loves gadgets, but come on, not everything needs to be motorized." Personally, I would have found it so embarrassing if I were not able to do something as simple as open my glove box just because my car wouldn't let me.Of course, others praised the officers for their work, with another top comment reading, "74 in a 45....wow. Ticket earned 💯." On the other hand, some questioned how the officer would even know if someone was speeding, writing, "How do you not know you're speeding when you're passing everybody?"At the end of the day, there are two important lessons to be learned here: find an alternative way to open a glove box in a Tesla in case of emergencies and never drive while distracted, especially if you're actively getting pulled over.If you want more stories like this, follow Guessing Headlights on Yahoo so you don't miss what's coming next.
