The new facelift for Toyota's Yaris Cross brightens things up considerably with its cute new facelift. The Yaris Cross isn't sold in the US as it's a spreadsheet designed vehicle for Europe aimed at "a wide range of European customers."As it stands, the Yaris Cross is Toyota's best-selling car in Europe since 2021, having sold 200,000 units in 2025 alone. Now, it's designed to stand out amongst the other small compact crossovers with its new honeycomb front grille, and expressive LED headlamps, which Toyota offers standard across trims. The Urbanite Swiss Army Crossover Toyota Rather than describing the Yaris Cross as a spreadsheet design, Toyota would probably prefer a Swiss army knife comparison. It's compact, comes in Mid, Mid+, High and GR SPORT trims, has a comfortable, practical and spacious cabin, a highly configurable rear seat for maximizing cargo space depending on passengers, and Toyota's 1.5-liter Hybrid 130 powertrain available in front-wheel- or all-wheel-drive configuration. That Hybrid 130 powertrain makes just 116 horsepower, which would measure about 114 hp in the US. However, its carbon emissions are minimal and Toyota claims it spends 4.4 to 4.7 liters per 100 kilometers. That translates between 55.3 to 62.7 mpg, presumably on the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) scale used in Europe.According to Toyota, it has "focused on meeting customer needs and addressing feedback" since the Yaris launched in 2021, which resulted in a 2024 update that dramatically reduced noise and vibration. At its core, the Yaris Cross is based around its Toyota T-Mate safety and driver assistance systems and a "fully digital user experience." What A Headlight Design, Though Toyota On paper, the Yaris Crossover is a perfectly great little crossover for the suburban masses, but the exterior upgrade is worthy of applause. The headlights are Mazda-esque in their expressiveness, which surely isn't an accident. But, they also remind us of 2010-era BMW when it gave its headlights that kind of wavy shape.Toyota has also added new alloy wheels on higher trims, and Celestite Grey replaces Shimmering Silver as a paint option. There is a new paint option, Precious Bronze, which is only available as a grand-sounding bi-tone option, but simply means you have to have a black roof and pillars."Inspired by the multiple World Championship-winning achievements of Toyota Gazoo Racing, the Yaris Cross GR Sport features exclusive exterior and interior features and retuned suspension for sharper, more rewarding handling."– ToyotaAmong other things, Toyota Gazoo Racing has won the World Endurance Championship four times, races in Japanese Super GT, and has a technical partnership with the Haas F1 Team. The Toyota Gazoo Racing Yaris Cross GR Sport is available exclusively in FWD specification with the 114 hp Hybrid 130 powertrain. It also includes a different front bumper, dedicated 18-inch machined alloy wheels, "suede type" sports seats, ambient lighting, a wireless charger, Blind Spot Monitor and power back door. And, let's not forget GR Sport-specific gunmetal silver trim inserts in the doors and instrument panel.Of course, the Yaris isn't offered in any form for US buyers. It was dropped from the US market after the 2020 model year, leaving the Corolla as the entry-level Toyota for Americans. Even then, the last US Yaris models were rebadged Mazdas. Yaris sales were slim by that time, but the Corolla, however, has soldiered on to remain one of Toyota's strongest selling models for American buyers. In 2025, the 'rolla sold nearly 250,000 units, up 6.5% from the previous year.
