The restomod world has a way of making factory cars look unimaginative. While Porsche keeps chasing performance and exclusivity with the current 911 lineup, specialists like Britain’s Theon Design keep proving the old cars have plenty left, often turning out something more desirable than what’s sitting on a showroom floor today. This is the latest 964 to be overhauled by Theon Design in the UK, aimed at delivering exceptional performance without compromising some of the car’s most important and identifiable design elements. The car sports a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six, rear-wheel drive, and a manual transmission. Thanks to an all-new, carbon fiber body, the car weighs a measly 2,526 lbs (1,146 kg), so it actually has a better power-to-weight ratio than the GT3. No classic 911 handles quite as well as a new one, so Theon has added TracTive semi-active suspension that has been specifically calibrated to the owner. When driven in the available Raucus mode, the car’s exhaust also delivers plenty of exhilarating pops and bangs. As for the carbon fiber body, it’s been painted in Crayon Grey and has several Lizard Green accents, including the Porsche badging on the engine cover. A set of 17-inch wheels with Anthracite and Black accents has also been added, along with Lizard Green brake calipers. A Cabin To Die For There’s plenty to like about the car’s cabin, too. The biggest change are the new Recaro Sportster CS seats, trimmed in black leather with green stitching and carbon-fiber backs. Theon Design has also added new gauges, clad the door panels in plush black leather, and fitted a carbon fiber transmission tunnel. The 964 also retains a pair of rear seats, although they’re only really suitable for children. While we’d argue a car like this is even cooler than a new 911 GT3, it comes at a price. Models from Theon like this start at £430,000 ($577,000), and that excludes the cost of the donor car.
