Each of the Big Three has one muscle car that transcends the rest of the lineup with an almost mythical presence. For Ford, that's undoubtedly the Mustang. As beautiful as the Challenger is, thesecond-generation Dodge Charger takes the crown with its one-of-a-kind styling. At Chevrolet, it might have been the Chevelle, hadn't the first-generation Camaro run away with the title. This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS, built by West Coast Customs, is an excellent example of how that happened. 1969 Camaro SS 350 Custom West Coast Customs Instagram Another signature aspect of the Big Three is that each did one color better than the rest. Ford takes the cake for Blue. Dodge is obviously orange. Chevrolet? As good as its cars look in bright hues, nothing wears black like a Bowtie. Again, this Camaro showcases exactly what I mean by that. The 1969 Camaro SS in question was shared on the West Coast Customs Instagram page. With Ryan Friedlinghaus at the helm, this absolute powerhouse of customs has been pumping some of the greatest builds of all time out of Burbank, California, since 1993. Obviously, the team has knocked it out of the park once again with this absolute stunner of a Chevy. Its bold, black paint job is just the start. It's absolutely gorgeous and is perfectly contrasted by the white drop top and interior. There's more than good esthetics to appreciate here. However, the subtle yet profound nature of the cowl hood is enough to stop us in our tracks on our way to the tech specs.Speaking of which, we're given very little information on what's under the hood, and the interior is a clue that it's most certainly far from stock. The seats, gauges, door panels, and much more seem to be taken from afifth-gen Camaro. So, while this machine has the classic looks of the '60s, it's as comfortable as a modern car inside. The car is declared to be a 1969 Camaro SS 350. So, it's safe to bet that the engine is at least a small block. Also, given that Fitech EFI is listed as a partner for this build, we can also likely assume it's a genuine old school V8, not an LS swap with a cute name. Further clues would seem to be the stock-style disc brakes up front. These are definitely safe and practical, but we'd be willing to bet that had they installed a fifth-gen Camaro engine in this car, they'd have done more to the brakes. As for the transmission, we don't know for sure what's hidden under the sheet metal. However, it does appear that this is a stick. Even with a convertible top, this car's all about getting down to business. The manual gearshift and QA1 suspension upgrades are clues of that. The builders also included a Magnaflow exhaust and Musway USA sound system to really amplify the experience behind the wheel. One Beautiful Machine West Coast Customs Instagram No matter what your favorite flavor of muscle is, there's no doubting that this is an absolutely beautiful Camaro. You don't have to be a fan of convertibles, custom interiors, or even Chevrolet to appreciate what West Coast Customs put together here. The styling is tasteful, the workmanship is an industry standard, and, at the end of the day, it's the kind of car you can jump in and enjoy driving the wheels off of. It's just a great reminder as to why the shop behind it has been building dream machines for over 30 years.
