Maybe it's the vibe of the world. Maybe the British weather finally got to the folks at Lotus headquarters. Whatever the exact reason, Lotus has decided to create a special edition for its Emira sports car, and it's as grey as a stormy day. It's going to be quite rare, too. So if your soul is feeling as dark as the Emira is light, you'll want to act quickly, and also make sure your bank account has plenty of breathing room (though not exactly for the reason you might think).Lotus This British Car Has An Italian Name Lotus named this car the Emira Scuro. Apparently, Scuro is Italian for "darkness," so it's certainly an appropriate name for the Lotus. The choice of an Italian word for a British sports car's name that can usually be had with either a German or Japanese engine may seem a bit random, but there is a bit of history. The company used the name on the Exige way back in 2009. So really, it's a bit random for that car. For the Emira, though, it has heritage.Lotus Lotus certainly gave the Emira Scuro looks worthy of the name. It's painted in a color called Satin Nebulous Grey. It's a dark matte grey, and in the company's provided renderings, it seems to have a slightly warm tint. The grey is accented with gloss black, which is found on the roof, mirror caps, and the 20-inch wheels. The only parts with any saturation are the brake calipers, which are bright gloss red.Inside, you'll find dark grey Alcantara throughout, broken up with red accent stitching. The steering wheel also gets a red 12 o'clock mark. Lotus also equipped the car with a 10-speaker sound system and the sport-tuned suspension, rather than the touring version. You'll also find Scuro badging within and without the car. UPDATE: 2026/03/25 12:32 EST BY JOEL STOCKSDALE Manufacturer ConfirmationA representative for Lotus told us that the Scuro will only come in the manual, V6 configuration. The text has been updated to reflect this.We reached out to Lotus for details on the powertrain, and it turns out that the American versions of the Emira Scuro will only be offered with the Toyota-sourced supercharged 3.5-liter V6. The engine makes 406 hp and 310 lb-ft. While the engine is available with either an automatic or a manual, the Scuro will only come with the six-speed manual. Lotus says this configuration will allow the Emira to hit 60 mph in 4.2 seconds on the way to a top speed of 180 mph. It's Available To Order Now Lotus is taking orders for the Emira Scuro, and the special editions will be going into production at the end of this month. The company is only building 60 examples for the U.S., so it will be quite exclusive. Strangely, though, Lotus has not yet given pricing for the Scuro. The base Emira Turbo starts at $106,700, and at the other end is the V6 SE at $112,900. We would bet that the Scuro costs more than the V6 SE, and probably not by an enormous amount, considering the minor changes to make this model.
