JD Power notes that, thanks to a drop in failures of EV fast chargers, the cars that have often had issues associated with them are thankfully seeing lower rates. The report cites that charger failures (Note: Not to be confused with issues) are down to 12%, which goes hand-in-hand with Compare.com's study revealing that six of the top-ten 2025-2026 model year vehicles with the largest insurance cost decreases are in fact electric or hybrid, or available in an electric or hybrid trim.Pulling from more than 58 million insurance rates, Compare.com found that the average insurance premium for 2025-2026 model year vehicles is $2,879 per year.
