Does Genesis hold the crown for the best wheel designs at the moment? It might not be official, but the Korean automaker would get our nomination. After a few months between sightings, the CarBuzz spy photographers have just captured the Genesis GV90 out testing once again. It's closer to production-ready than ever and looks fabulous. Concept Car's Wheels Are Coming To Production CarBuzz/Valnet The wheel design is a fascinating one, thanks to the off-kilter center element that looks like an oil pump impeller turning inside the larger pump. We wish this one came with video, because that's going to look extremely unusual when this new Genesis is in motion. But when it's stopped – by brake or by camera shutter – it's like nothing else. It's the same design that the concept model wore two years ago. The wheels are also a concept-like 24 inches in diameter, and we're still getting used to those gigantic sizes becoming standard on more and more vehicles every year. Match this prototype's wheel with the sawblade look we've seen on other GV90 prototypes, the different intricate lace wheels on other production Genesis models, and the waffle-look G70 rims, and you'll see the Korean brand is crushing it. Design has always been the company's strong suit, and it will need to lean on that with the GV90. These wheels hint at even more dramatic features Genesis has planned for its Mercedes-rivaling SUV flagship. Rolls-Like Coach-Doors Get Ready For Prime Time CarBuzz/Valnet We've spied previous GV90 concepts that show how the brand plans to out-do the competition, with an interior that seems to match Maybach. Genesis is going directly after Rolls-Royce, though, with the GV90's signature feature: coach-opening doors. Despite Genesis seeming to have some trouble with the doors early on, and reports of delays, we understand Genesis has it figured out now. It's tough to tell which doors this one will have because the camouflage cleverly has cut-outs for normal and coach handles. With the air billowing the vinyl, it's even tougher to figure out what's being used here. Based on the big 24-inch rollers, we suspect this has coach doors. Deep green paint is one clear sign that this GV90 is very close to being ready for production. Prototypes are generally a simple black, grey, or white to cut costs until it's time to test out the paint shop. And test the paint shop it will, because this SUV is immense. We can see the production head and taillights poking out of the wrap, with the two-line design we expect from the brand. The new model won't have exactly the same face as the other Genesis models, though. Where the front lights start to curve down to form the grille – a Neolun detail – is visible through the wrap. We can also see some contrast piping on the tan seats. The contrast looks to be green, which would really pop with the paint. Now it seems that all that's left is to wait for the official unveiling. Genesis hasn't announced a date yet, but we expect the full reveal to happen sometime in 2026. And it could come sooner rather than later. Stay tuned. Genesis GV90 Spy photo (2)
