On May 22, SAIC Motor announced that it will deliver its 100 millionth vehicle globally by the end of this month, becoming the first automotive group in Chinese automotive history to surpass 100 million cumulative vehicle production and sales. Over the past two years, China’s vehicle exports have grown rapidly, while SAIC has remained one of the country’s earliest and most internationally established automakers. Delivery celebration of SAIC’s 100 million customers Since achieving its first passenger vehicle exports in 2001, SAIC has expanded operations to more than 170 countries and regions worldwide, with cumulative overseas deliveries now exceeding 7 million vehicles. At the same time, SAIC’s overseas strategy has gradually evolved toward localized operations. Official data showed that SAIC currently operates more than 100 overseas parts production facilities and over 3,000 sales and service outlets globally. The company has also established R&D centers in locations including London, while building local manufacturing plants in Thailand, Indonesia, India and Pakistan. MG has become one of the most important pillars of SAIC’s overseas business. On the same day, SAIC released a new round of MG sales data for the European market. SAIC MG’s April sales in the UK MG’s April sales in the UK surged 84.9% year-on-year, allowing the brand to maintain its position among the top six automakers in the British market. In Belgium, MG’s March sales doubled year-on-year, rising 100%. Currently, MG has established more than 2,000 sales and service outlets across 34 European countries, covering major markets including Germany, France and Italy. The accelerating European expansion reflects the deeper implementation of SAIC’s Overseas Strategy 3.0 initiative. SAIC MG’s March sales in Belgium Data showed that MG’s European sales surpassed 240,000 vehicles in 2024. In the first half of 2025, MG sold 153,000 vehicles in Europe, surpassing Tesla and becoming the best-selling Chinese automotive brand in the region. To date, MG has also become the first Chinese automotive brand to surpass 1 million cumulative sales across Europe and the UK markets. Notably, on May 20, IM Motors launched the LS6 “SAIC 100 Million” Limited Edition, commemorating the group’s upcoming milestone of 100 million vehicle deliveries.
