The RUF Ehra is based on the company’s own lightweight carbon fiber monocoque. A 3.6-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder delivers 650 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. The Ehra sits considerably wider than RUF’s similar CTR Anniversary. Just a month after RUF unveiled an all-new 4.8-liter twin-turbocharged eight-cylinder boxer engine, the German company has used Monterey Car Week to unveil Ehra, its latest limited-run model that draws inspiration from classic Porsche 911s. Read: Ruf’s Rodeo Is Just Like A Vintage 911 Dakar, But Better The RUF Ehra gets its name from the famous Ehra-Lessien proving ground owned by the VW Group, the site RUF used in 1987 to set a top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h) in the iconic CTR Yellowbird, briefly making it the world’s fastest production car. Obviously, the Ehra won’t be chasing any top speed records, but like the Yellowbird, it promises to be a phenomenal, driver-focused weapon. Underpinning the car is RUF’s own carbon fiber monocoque, while power comes from a 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder with 650 hp and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque, making it more powerful than the new 911 Turbo S, if you take away that car’s electric motor. There’s no word on how quick the RUF Ehra is, but thanks to a fully variable all-wheel-drive system, it shouldn’t have any issues putting its power to the ground. More Than A Powerful Engine As you’d expect of a RUF, the coupe has been engineered to the nth degree. In addition to all-wheel drive, it also gets a rear limited-slip differential as well as double-wishbone suspension at all four corners, including pushrod-activated horizontal adaptive dampers. The overall design of the Ehra shares a lot in common with the limited-run CTR Anniversary introduced a few years ago. Importantly, the Ehra’s front end is 2.3 inches (58 mm) wider than that car, while the rear is 2.1 inches (54 mm) wider. The swollen arches give it a much more menacing look on the road, as do the enlarged air intakes on the rear arches. Crucially, and unlike any modern Porsche 911, the Ehra remains small and looks all the better for it. A set of custom fully-forged wheels with centerlocks adds to the dramatic design, as do the huge brakes with yellow calipers at the front and rear. Just as the exterior is the perfect combination of modern and retro, so too is the cabin. Ehra has been fitted with stunning carbon fiber-backed bucket seats clad in natural brown leather with a Pasha checkered pattern. There are also pieces of satin carbon fiber on the dashboard and center console, as well as classic gauges and a beautiful three-spoke steering wheel. A small screen has also been installed, but crucially, it doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb, as is often the case in new cars.
