After making a surprise appearance at Sebring a few days ago, the 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport has now been officially revealed to the world. Many of the common traits that are typical of a Grand Sport are found here on this new C8 version, but Chevy has found a few new ways to reinvigorate the formula, including a new all-wheel-drive Grand Sport X variant and a brand-new engine for both versions. The Grand Sport and Grand Sport X debut a new 6.7-liter LS6 V8 engine. This is technically the first time a Grand Sport model has received a new engine mid-lifecycle, but it still continues the trend of using the same powertrain as the base Stingray but with improved suspension and aero. But what's never been seen before is a Grand Sport debuting with more power than the Z06."Grand Sport has always been the Corvette for drivers who want the spirit of a race car in a package they can enjoy every day. With the new Grand Sport and Grand Sport X, we've taken that formula into the mid-engine era, pairing a heritage-rich design with the most advanced Corvette technologies we've ever offered."– Scott Bell, Vice President of Global Chevrolet A Legendary Heart Beats Again Chevrolet Fans of the C5 generation Corvette Z06 will remember the 5.7-liter small block engine that used that name from 2001 to 2004. GM has brought back the LS6 moniker, now sporting a larger 6.7-liter displacement that will be ripe for 6–7 jokes from the owner's grandkids. While the displacement may be funny to some, the output is seriously impressive. The Grand Sport produces 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque, still going out to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual clutch transmission. As a reminder, the outgoing 6.2-liter LT2 with the Z51 package produced 495 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. The larger displacement allows the LS6 engine to run at a 13.0:1 compression ratio, which should make it more responsive than the old LT2. In addition to the increased displacement, the LS6 benefits from forged pistons and rods, a new lubrication system, and revised exhaust manifolds. A new 95mm throttle body and tunnel ram intake with high-velocity ports are also present to push more air into the 407 cubic inch engine. Still A Z06 Without The Engine Chevrolet In the past, the Corvette Grand Sport typically represented the handling prowess of a Z06 but with the powertrain from a Stingray. This new C8 model is essentially that formula, just improved. It uses GM's Magnetic Ride Control Touring Suspension with Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 tires, meaning owners can use it as a daily driver. Chevy even designed new brakes that won't create as much dust, keeping those black wheels looking fresh.Owners who want more sharpness from their car can opt for the new Z52 Sport Performance Package, which adds Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires and J56 iron brakes from the Z06. There is also a Z52 Track Performance Package with Cup 2R tires and J57 carbon ceramic brakes, plus a carbon splitter, dive planes, rockers, and a rear wing. As with the Z06 and ZR1, the Grand Sport lets buyers choose how aggressive they want the car to be. Goodbye E-Ray, Hello Grand Sport X Chevrolet Along with the standard Grand Sport, Chevy also introduces the Grand Sport X for 2027 to replace the E-Ray. Corvette buyers thought the E-Ray was an EV based on the "E" in its name, so replacing it with the cooler-sounding Grand Sport X could be a great way to reinvigorate sales. It doesn't hurt that this new car now pairs the LS6 engine with the front motor from the record-setting ZR1X, combining to produce 721 hp. That's far more than the E-Ray's 655 hp, and it's significantly more than the Z06's 670 hp.Drivers have three ways to deploy the front e-axle, which delivers 145 lb-ft of near-instant torque. Endurance mode stores the high-voltage battery's charge for extended lapping sessions, Qualifying mode offers optimal power for the quickest lap time, and Push-to-Pass delivers the maximum power in quick bursts.Opting for the Grand Sport X rolls in standard Magnetic Ride, carbon-ceramic brakes, and Michelin All-Season 4 tires, though a Performance Package with Pilot Sport 4S tires is available. Grand Sport Heritage Channels C2 Corvette Roots Chevrolet The 2027 Corvette Grand Sport looks great because it takes the wider fenders and body kit from the Z06 and brings it to the Stingray. Buyers can also opt for some heritage liveries, based on the original Grand Sport model from the C2 generation. The C8 revives Admiral Blue Metallic, the color used on the C4 generation Grand Sport, pairing that hue with a white center stripe and red hash. A launch edition interior will be available to match, featuring Santorini Blue-Dipped surfaces with red stitching and accents, embossed headrests, and a Launch Edition speaker plaque.Chevrolet Buyers can choose from several hash mark and center stripe colors to personalize their cars if they don't want to go for the classic Grand Sport look. Pitch Gray Metallic, a new dark gray hue, has been added for 2027, as well as a new Santorini Blue/Jet Black asymmetrical interior option. The Grand Sport rides on a 10-spoke aluminum wheel in one of four finishes: Pearl Nickel, Gloss Black, Carbon Flash with Bright Polished, and High Polished. A five-spoke carbon-fiber wheel is also available in visible carbon fiber, Carbon Flash Painted, or with a red stripe.Production of the Grand Sport lineup and the 2027 Stingray begins this summer, with pricing to be announced closer to the on-sale date.2027-chevrolet-corvette-grand-sport-22
