They also deployed the first three electric trucks at the time—Volvo FM Electric—which Volvo Trucks positions as a productive transport solution for cities and residential areas. Depending on the battery configuration, the model offers a range of up to 300 kilometres.Quehenberger has now completed the transition: all ten electric trucks are in operation and deliver goods to around 100 dm stores in Vienna each day—locally emission-free and with significantly reduced noise. The logistics provider points to ‘impressive environmental benefits,’ including annual CO₂ savings of 389 tonnes. This corresponds to roughly 2.78 million car kilometres avoided or the annual electricity consumption of around 278 households. At the same time, the company says the switch has led to a noticeable reduction in noise pollution across the city.“The complete electrification of dm delivery in Vienna reflects our strategic alignment towards a climate-neutral future,” said Klaus Hrazdira, COO at Quehenberger Logistics. “As a leading logistics service provider, we see ourselves as having the responsibility to develop innovative transport solutions that are both economically and ecologically sustainable whilst ensuring the highest service quality.”According to Quehenberger, the collaboration with dm demonstrates how well-planned logistics partnerships can achieve measurable environmental improvements. Over the past year, transport routes were gradually optimised, capacities precisely calculated, and the technical infrastructure systematically expanded.“Together with partners like dm, we develop bespoke solutions that combine economic efficiency with ecological responsibility,” emphasised Paul Weissenberger, responsible Project Manager at Quehenberger Logistics.quehenberger.com
