Polaris has been on a limited-edition streak with the Slingshot lately. The brand wrapped up 2025 by announcing the Grand Touring, and now, just months later, it’s back with another limited-run variant: the 2026 Signature Edition. Two premium specials in quick is the a sign of a brand confident in its product. The Signature Edition is rooted in the range-topping R trim, so the bones are solid. The ProStar 2.0-liter four-cylinder carries over from the standard R, making 204 horsepower and 149.8 lb-ft of torque. Buyers can pick between a five-speed manual or a five-speed automated manual with paddle shifters, and Polaris claims a 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds with a 125-mph top speed.AdvertisementAdvertisementBrembo brakes handle the stopping, and a vented sport hood manages airflow over what is, it must be said, a very open cockpit. What Actually Makes the Signature Edition DifferentThe story here really sits in the paint. A ‘color-shifting’ Golden Steel finish is paired with Black Crystal accents – the primary shade reads as light blue, but a gold-iridescent sheen plays with the light and ties into the metallic flakes scattered across the deep black sections.Gold pinstriping runs alongside blacked-out metal badging, though machined badges are also available. It’s the kind of finish that probably looks better in person than any photograph can capture.Inside, prominent Rockford Fosgate branding identifies a 700-watt Stage 3 Max audio package, with a pair of eight-inch side panel speakers and two 6.5-inch headrest speakers creating an immersive audio experience. The XKGlow interior lighting system can be synchronized to music via the Slingshot LED mobile app.A 7-inch infotainment display handles navigation, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and a backup camera, and even includes a vehicle locator in case you forget where you parked.AdvertisementAdvertisementRIDE COMMAND+ also adds real-time weather and traffic overlays, vehicle health monitoring, and comes with a complimentary one-year trial, after which fees apply.Production is limited, with pricing starting at $36,999 – placing it between the standard R at $34,999 and the Grand Touring at $41,999.That’s a two-thousand-dollar premium over the R for the upgraded audio, interior lighting, color-shifting paint, and RIDE COMMAND+ connectivity. Per the company, it’s already shipping to dealers now, so if the Golden Steel finish is calling your name, the clock is already running.Josh Hermes, Polaris Slingshot Vice President, argues this one is for the style-first crowd: “Style remains the top priority for our Slingshot riders, and the 2026 Signature Edition showcases that commitment. As a premium addition to our lineup, it pairs exclusive design with advanced technology for a one-of-kind ride.”AdvertisementAdvertisementWhether you view the Slingshot as a legitimate driver’s machine or a rolling conversation starter probably determines how you feel about the Signature Edition. The performance is unchanged from the R, and the upgrades are almost entirely about how the thing looks and sounds. For the target buyer, that’s exactly the point.Related ArticlesBMW Goes All New with Neue Klasse and Hits a Home RunVolvo Poised to Save Millions More Lives With New TechnologyRivian’s AI-Led R2 SUVs Went from Skunkworks to SiliconStart your unlimited Newsweek trial
