According to the official SAMR recall filing published on May 22, Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. will recall 49,465 units of the Nissan N7 electric sedan and 18,800 units of the Nissan N6 plug-in hybrid SUV starting May 25, 2026. The recall filing states that long-term use could cause wear inside the accelerator pedal assembly, resulting in interference between pedal components and affecting pedal return operation. Dongfeng Motor will replace the accelerator pedal assembly free of charge in affected vehicles, while recalled N6 vehicles will also receive a revised brake pedal assembly. Accelerator pedal issue SAMR said the affected vehicles may develop wear within the accelerator pedal assembly over time due to a design-related issue. The filing stated that interference between the pedal’s rotating components and a protruding support structure could result in abnormal pedal return behaviour, creating a potential safety hazard. Dongfeng Motor will replace the accelerator pedal assembly in affected vehicles free of charge. For the N6, the company will also replace the brake pedal with a revised unit that matches the updated pedal shape. The regulator did not disclose any reported crashes or injuries linked to the issue. Nissan N6 affected by accelerator pedal recall. N7 production expansion The recall involves two Nissan models developed for the Chinese market as part of Dongfeng Nissan’s local electrification push. The Nissan N7 electric sedan entered production in 2025. Dongfeng Nissan previously said cumulative N7 production in China reached 50,000 units within 7 months. The model was launched as part of Nissan’s broader local EV strategy. The Nissan N6 plug-in hybrid SUV launched in China in late 2025 with a starting price of 89,800 yuan (13,200 USD). Nissan previously said the N6 was planned for export markets. Nissan N7 sales in China. The model accounted for 6.3% of Nissan’s China brand sales during the month. N7 monthly sales peaked at 10,148 units in August 2025 before declining in subsequent months. The model recorded 6,540 units in October 2025 and 1,925 units in December 2025. Broader China lineup The recall comes as Nissan continues expanding its China-focused electrified lineup. In April 2026, the company launched the Nissan NX8 SUV in China with a claimed combined range of up to 1,450 km and an 800V electrical architecture. The NX8 started at 141,000 yuan (20,750 USD). China’s SAMR regularly publishes recall filings covering both domestic and joint-venture automakers operating in the country. Vehicle recalls in China are typically initiated either voluntarily by manufacturers or following regulator-conducted defect investigations.
