This probably won't come as much of a surprise, but it's a safe bet that Nissan will offer more of its e-Power hybrids in the US as soon as it can. Recently, at a US drive of one of the Japanese automaker's Europe-only crossovers that uses the system already, company officials were open about it. In short, it's safe to assume that there will be more e-Power models coming to dealers in the US after the Rogue. Rogue Won't Be Nissan's Only Fuel-Sipper Nissan When an all-new Nissan Rogue arrives, which will probably happen later this year, it will get the automaker's e-Power hybrid system. The e-Power system only uses the electric motors to drive the vehicle, with the engine only there to operate an electric generator. It can send power to a small battery or directly to the motors. It's a lot like an extended-range EV, but without the large plug-in battery. The Rogue will get the third-generation of the system. It launched with the Qashqai (the replacement for what was called the Rogue Sport in the US) in Europe, and it will show up in other Nissan models sooner rather than later. Once the Rogue e-Power arrives, more will follow. CarScoops reports that Nissan officials revealed more about those plans at a recent event near Detroit. There, Nissan's people said that it is safe to assume there are other e-Power models coming. For a look at what vehicles might get the hybrid system, those same officials said to look at what Nissan sells in international markets. Nissan has sold more than 1.5 million first and second-generation e-Power-equipped vehicles around the world, but has sold zero of those in the US. Could Kicks Be The Next e-Power Hybrid? Nissan Not selling a hybrid in the US when you've sold that many globally is a strange move for Nissan, but it's not that the company hasn't tried. Aside from the Rogue PHEV, which is just a re-badge of the pre-facelift Mitsubishi Outlander, you'll probably have trouble remembering its previous attempts. Those include the Altima hybrid, which used Toyota's Camry hybrid system and sold from 2007-2011, the Pathfinder hybrid that got just one model year in 2014, and the Rogue hybrid, which sold from 2017-2020.What other models could get the new system? If we're looking internationally, there aren't many possibilities. The e-Power system isn't exactly on many models, and at least two of those are Japan-only vans. The Kicks seems to be the most likely candidate. The new-generation Kicks is rumored to be getting the latest system, and that would be an obvious competitor to the likes of the Toyota Corolla Cross hybrid in the US.Nissan You can already get a Kicks e-Power, at least in some markets. The prior generation Kicks, sold since 2025 as the Kicks Play, added e-Power in some Asian markets in 2020. Nissan added it for Mexico in 2021, and it is still available there.Nissan will almost certainly look to expand where it offers the e-Power system. That could include its larger and smaller models, with the Pathfinder and Murano both likely to benefit from a hybrid offering in the lineup.
