With 812 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque, the Urus SE delivers impressive performance. Automobili Lamborghini S.P.A./dpaLamborghini has unveiled the Urus SE Performante, a more powerful version of what is thought to already be the world's fastest production SUV, in what it perhaps the company's biggest flex this year. The manufacturer has yet to announce prices for its new flagship SUV, but they are expected to come in at just under €300,000 in Europe. The standard Urus already costs more than €250,000 in Europe or $262,000 in the US, and the new Performante variant - due to arrive at the turn of the year - adds significantly more muscle to what is already one of the most powerful SUVs on the market.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe plug-in hybrid combines a V8 petrol engine with an electric motor integrated into the gearbox, producing a combined output of 596 kW and 812 hp - an increase of 107 kW and 146 hp over the previous model. With a combined maximum torque of 1,000 Nm, the drivetrain accelerates the SUV, which competes with cars such as the Aston Martin DBX and Porsche Cayenne, from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, with a record-equalling top speed of up to 312 km/h, according to Lamborghini.Alongside the more powerful drivetrain, Lamborghini has also revised and tightened the suspension. The car also gets an even more aggressive design, including a new carbon fibre bonnet.A side effect of the redesign is that the Urus SE Performante sheds 32 kg, giving it what Lamborghini claims is the best power-to-weight ratio in its segment. Even so, it is no lightweight: The car still tips the scales at 2,473 kg.
