New Polestar 4 'SUV' Seems Suspiciously Wagon-LikePolestarSadly, electric carmaker Polestar won't be with us in the United States much longer, but that certainly doesn't mean the Swedish automaker is done building stylish, performance-focused EVs, as the brand's newest entrant makes clear.The Polestar 4 made waves when it arrived in 2023, in no small part starting conversations because it lacked a rear window. As of Wednesday, however, a more traditional version has arrived. Officially known as the Polestar 4 SUV, the new model not only features a proper rear window, but it looks suspiciously like a station wagon to us.PolestarPolestar says the new body style is meant to improve versatility, but that the fundamentals of the model will stay the same. That means the Polestar 4 SUV is built on the same SEA architecture and 100 kWh battery as the Polestar 4 coupe-SUV, with two powertrain options available; a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version offers 544 horsepower and 505 lb-ft of torque, while the single-motor version produces 272 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque. Range figures span from 372 miles on the dual-motor version to 392 miles for the single-motor one, albeit on the generous WLTP scale. A performance package is also available for the Polestar 4 SUV, adding recalibrated active dampers from ZF, high-performance Brembo brakes with calipers painted Swedish gold, and a new 22-inch wheel equipped with Pirelli P Zero performance tires.AdvertisementAdvertisement"[The] Polestar 4 SUV builds on the dynamic foundation of the recently sharpened Polestar 4 coupe. Rear seat headroom increases by an inch versus the existing rear window-less model, and cargo capacity improves to a total of 23 cubic feet. Because Polestar added a rear window to the SUV, a traditional rear-view mirror and adorable little rear windscreen wiper are now standard.All Polestar 4 SUV models will be manufactured in Busan, South Korea, where the other Polestar 4 is produced. Pricing for single-motor variants starts at 57,900 euros, or $67,116; dual-motor versions start at 65,900 euro ($76,390), and the Performance Package edition is priced at 76,300 euro ($88,455).
