You get the freedom to wake up beside a mountain lake or deep in the desert, but you give up some of the comforts of home. The Noovo Next flips that equation. During a 10-day road trip through Arizona and Nevada, I lived out of this luxury Mercedes-Benz Sprinter conversion with heated floors, Starlink internet, a reclining bed, hot showers, and enough off-grid capability to reach remote campsites. By the end of the trip, the Noovo Next had ruined me for almost every other campervan I've tested. What Is the Noovo Next Camper Van?The Next is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van that includes similar high-end features and handcrafted interior design as other Noovo models, upgraded with all-wheel drive for off-road adventures. With the Next, Noovo caters to adventure-seekers who want the freedom and flexibility of van life without sacrificing the comforts of home.Noovo Next Camper VanBecca DownsI tested the Next on a 10-day road trip through Nevada and Arizona, including crewing the Cocodona 250—a multi-day ultramarathon from Black Canyon City, AZ, to Flagstaff, AZ. I spent nights in frigid, near-freezing temperatures in the mountains and sweltering days in the desert. I also tested its AWD on bumpy, rocky BLM roads in the mountains and desert.Noovo Next Campervan Overall Impressions I expected the 22-foot (23-foot if you include the optional Titan Box for gear storage attached at the rear) Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van to be a lot of vehicle to maneuver through heavy traffic on the interstate, narrow neighborhood streets, and rugged National Forest Service dirt roads. But the van handles like a dream, with an impressively tight turning radius, a crystal-clear rear-view camera, and all the dashboard information you could need to drive with confidence. The front seats swivel around in the Noovo Next Camper Van for more interior seating.Becca DownsWhile aspects of driving a home-on-wheels in general took some getting used to (e.g., shut the windows, close and lock the cabinets, don't leave valuables on the table), every aspect of driving and living in the Noovo Next felt easy. Even when the Smart Control System glitched and the air conditioning stopped working, I quickly learned how to reset it. AdvertisementAdvertisementThe Next makes living on the road feel comfortable, from the stove burners integrated in the kitchen countertop to the cassette toilet and removable showerhead, the bed that rivaled the comfort of my own bed at home, and two touchscreen dashboards to control the temperature, lighting, and other electrical features. Plus, as Noovo's first model with all-wheel drive, you can more confidently take this van to more rugged locations (just be sure you have all the tire-changing tools you may need if you take it somewhere a little too rugged, as this author had to learn the hard way). The Noovo Next has a large and comfy bed that includes a projector screen.Becca DownsBut the Noovo Next does more than make life on the road comfortable—it makes it feel luxurious. It comes with heated floors, heated water for warm showers, a bed that raises forward for comfortable reclining, a projector and projector screen in the bedroom, an automatic awning with lights, a ton of storage, and more. When I got a flight tire, I learned it even has its own source for tire-pumping air. This comes at a premium price (the Next starts at $232,750), but if this fits your budget, you'll be getting a premium vehicle with premium customer service. The company is only about six years old and is rapidly growing. When I chatted with the founders, they remembered the names of people who bought one of their vans several years ago. Time will tell if that small-company feel lasts as their vans grow in popularity, but their community and service-oriented mindset seems embedded in every employee. The kitchen includes a deep sink with heated water and plenty of storage and counter space.Becca DownsThe Noovo Next is an impressive van that makes life on the road feel comfortable and lavish. You may still have to dump your cassette toilet and grey water, but with nearly all the other comforts of at-home living wrapped neatly in a pristine Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van, it's hard to find a more enjoyable way to experience the freedom of life on the road.Key Features and TechThe Noovo Next is a feature-rich camper van, with the majority of features for use at your fingertips on two Garmin control screens. The Smart Control System screens allow you to adjust or monitor temperature, lighting, water usage, and Starlink. The reclining bed and projector screen, swivel desk, and handcrafted appliances and cabinetry all feel luxurious for a camper van, making this an incredibly comfortable off-grid living situation. The Smart Control System screens allow you to adjust or monitor temperature, lighting, water usage, and Starlink.Becca DownsA standout feature of the Noovo Next is its all-wheel driving capabilities, a first for Noovo. I took the van on gnarly dirt roads in the Arizona mountains and had no issues (I did get a flat tire on the highway shortly after, but I'm not sure the cause). The AWD makes the Next a great fit for vanlifers who want to frequent more remote locations.AdvertisementAdvertisementWhile some features were a little buggy in the prototype we tested—like awning opening on its own, the grey water tank gauge accuracy, or the system shutting down at random—most were solved by a quick restart of the system and would be quick fixes for Noovo should you have an issue after purchasing.Mercedes-Benz Sprinter: The chassis is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter with a 4-cylinder diesel high engine, 24.5-gallon fuel tank, and AWDSmart Control System: Two Garmin control screens allow you to adjust lighting, temperature, power, and utilities all in one place51V Lithionics Power System: Lithionics designed a crush-proof and fireproof lithium-ion battery system for Noovo that utilizes three charging sources—an inverter battery, solar power, and alternators—for electricity and air conditioning3M Thinsulate Sound & Thermal Insulation: Premium insulation for cold weatherMCS7 Hydronic Furnace System: This means heated water, heated floors, and heated temperature control for comfortable year-round livingSafety features: Including carbon and smoke detectors, a fire extinguisher, and tire-changing equipment35-gallon fresh water tank38-gallon grey water tankKitchen appliances: Kitchen is stocked with a refrigerator, freezer, microwave, two-burner stove (integrated into the countertop), sink, storage, and counter spaceIndoor and outdoor shower: The indoor shower has a removable shower headCassette toilet: Easy to empty, requires little water, provides good odor control, and means you do not need a black water tankSwivel table and seats: The table behind the driver's seat can expand out as a dining table or desk area, and both the driver's and passenger's seats can swivel for additional seating (this area can also be turned into a 65 x 26-inch bed)RV queen-size bed: 6-inch-thick mattress with an electrical reclinerStarlink: Optional upgrade for off-grid Internet access controlled on the Smart Control System screensProjector and screen: For cozy movie nights in bedFour-season blackout covers: For the front and rear windowsStorage space: The Next has lots of secure, handcrafted cabinets throughout the van, particularly in the bedroom and kitchen areas, and a large garage under the bedWindows with bug screens: Bedroom and kitchen-area windows have built-in bug net and covers includedTitan box: Optional additional storage on the exterior of the vanRetractable awning and outdoor lighting: The awning and outdoor lighting are controlled from the Smart Control System padsNoovo Warranty: Includes a 3-year/36,000-mile Noovo limited warrantyMercedes Warranty: Includes a 3-year/36,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty, a 5-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, and a 5-year/2,000-cycle warranty on Lithionics componentsProsThe integrated induction stove top is sleek and powerful.Becca DownsSimply put, the Noovo Next is luxurious. From the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis to the handcrafted interior, heated water, and Starlink, this van makes living off grid feel like home. Every time I parked while testing this van I could hear the "oohs" and "ahhs" of other folks around, especially in areas with other camper vans. The difference between the Noovo Next and just about any other camper van around is staggering—the Next feels cutting edge and practically futuristic compared to nearly everything else I encountered on the road.AWD, Starlink, and large water tanks make this a great camper van for remote, off-grid livingSmart Control System, handcrafted features, and high-end appliances make for incredibly comfortable living anywhereWarm water, insulation, and heated floors, and air conditioning mean year-round comfortPlenty of storage space all throughout the vehicleComfortable sleeping setup for 1-2 people with the reclining bed and comfortable mattress (the Next can sleep a third, in the desk/driver's seat area, but would be less comfortable)Excellent customer service and community supportConsWhile the Noovo Next is a premium camper van, it is a large financial commitment. The Next starts at $232,750 without personalization and upgrades, and requires diesel gas. While testing this van for 10 days, I experienced glitches to the Smart Control System, which meant randomly losing power despite a fully charged battery or the awning randomly opening while I was driving. This was usually resolved by resetting the system; plus, I was testing a prototype, and the Noovo team is quick to help customers with issues. It's a great option for those seeking the freedom of van life without wanting to sacrifice the comforts of home, like air conditioning, wifi, heated water, a flushable toilet, a comfortable bed, and a stocked kitchen.
