Hyundai’s hot streak continued after another record-setting US sales month. The IONIQ 5 defied the odds with a surprise record February after sales rose 33%. Hyundai IONIQ 5 drives EV sales higher in February With 65,677 vehicles sold in the US last month, up 6% from February 2025, Hyundai posted its third consecutive month of record sales. Hyundai Motor America’s CEO, Randy Parker, credited the automaker’s growing lineup of electric and hybrid vehicles for the success. “Our electrified products continue to shine, with pure EV sales up 6% year over year, HEV total sales surging 79%,” Parker said. Hyundai sold 3,329 IONIQ 5s last month, up 33% year-over-year, driving EV sales to their highest February total yet. IONIQ 5 sales are now up 14% through the first two months of 2026, with 5,365 units sold. 2026 Hyundai IONIQ 5 (Source: Hyundai) The record-setting performance comes as many major carmakers have reported lower EV sales after the $7,500 federal tax credit expired at the end of September. Hyundai sold another 505 IONIQ 9s last month, its three-row electric SUV, bringing its total to 1,085 through the first two months of 2026. Meanwhile, IONIQ 6 sales slid 77% with only 229 units sold in February. It's been such a great family car with plenty of rear leg room, range, and comfort. EV consumers notice whether a manufacturer is now and continues to be committed to building great affordable electric vehicles. Ford and Tesla have really shown a lack of dedication, Tesla chasing the next shiny object and Ford hunkering down into ICE and hybrids. Hyundai has shown dedication and commitment regardless of the political winds. These sales are before this latest dumb middle east war for oil. I expect that people will make the connection between oil price spikes and global vulnerabilities to oil and send the Ioniq brand even higher in March. Hyundai reported combined Kona (EV and gas) sales were about flat with 5,646 models sold last month. The record-setting IONIQ 5 sales come after Hyundai launched aggressive discounts on 2026 models in early February. Through its Hyundai Getaway Sales Event, the company is offering a $10,000 discount on the 2026 IONIQ 5, or 0% APR financing for 72 months, plus an additional $5,000 off. 2026 Hyundai IONIQ 5 TrimDriving RangeStarting PriceIONIQ 5 SE RWD Standard Range245 miles$35,000IONIQ 5 SE RWD318 miles$37,500IONIQ 5 SEL RWD318 miles$39,800IONIQ 5 Limited RWD318 miles$45,075IONIQ 5 SE Dual Motor AWD290 miles$41,000IONIQ 5 SEL Dual Motor AWD290 miles$43,300IONIQ 5 XRT Dual Motor AWD259 miles$46,275IONIQ 5 Limited Dual Motor AWD269 miles$48,9752026 Hyundai IONIQ 5 prices and driving range by trim After cutting prices on the 2026 model year, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 remains one of the most affordable EVs in the US, starting at just $35,000.
