Genesis is a brand with a bright future ahead of it. The high-end division of Korean automaker Hyundai is just over a decade old, having been introduced in 2015. Today, its lineup has expanded dramatically. The sub-brand has helped elevate Hyundai’s image, expanding its reach into new areas of the automotive market.Today, Genesis is setting its sights on the world of performance with the Magma program, expanding its lineup with new models, and introducing fascinating concept vehicles. Some of them are set to get their own production runs in the not-too-distant future and will be hitting a dealership near you within a few years. Others, however, are simply visions of what Genesis’ future could look like and will not become production models. In this list, we have collected five Genesis models that we would, in an ideal world, like to see as part of the brand’s production output. These could be concepts, prototypes, or simply hypothetical vehicles that might fill a slot in the lineup. G90 Wingback Magma Production Status: Unconfirmed Genesis G90 Wingback Magma Concept (18)Towards the end of 2025, Genesis unveiled a concept car that piqued the interest of all car enthusiasts out there who want to see the wagon make a comeback. The G90 Wingback Magma is a long-roof version of the G90 sedan, a model that has been around since 2017.The concept car was the second to use the Magma name, after a high-performance version of the GV60. Magma is Genesis’ new performance division that not only creates upgraded versions of existing Genesis models but also has its own motorsport program.Genesis did not just give the G90 a new body style with this concept; it also refreshed the model’s looks with larger fenders, large tires, and a front end with a more aggressive character. A dark green paint finish completed the Wingback Magma’s villainous vibe, which earned it the nickname “Dr. Evil Magma” amongst the Genesis team. There is, so far, no production run on the horizon for the G90 Wingback Magma. However, the fact that Genesis opted for a wagon body style, a relative rarity in today’s car world, gives us a glimmer of hope that at some point in the near future, we might see this unique version of the G90 become a production model. Magma GT Production Status: Confirmed Genesis Magma GT Concept Next up, we have another car that wears the Magma name. Unlike the G90 Wingback Magma, however, this car is set to enter production. Here's the Magma GT, a supercar concept unveiled last fall. Not only is Genesis going to produce more than one example of this striking car, but it is also set to take part in GT3 racing. The Magma GT has a sleek, flowing design. Narrow double headlights are wrapped around the front end, and the occasional pointy edge counteracts the smooth curves of the car’s teardrop-shaped silhouette. Completing the look is a striking orange hue that ties the car to the wider Magma lineup. The vivid Magma Orange hue has been chosen as the performance division’s signature color.Regarding the powertrain, things are still fairly uncertain. Interestingly, the Magma GT concept car introduced so far has been confirmed to feature a V8 engine. For the future production model, however, Genesis has not yet confirmed which powertrain would be running the show. The presence of NACA ducts suggests this would likely be a combustion engine. GV80 Magma Production Status: Unconfirmed 2026 Genesis GV80 PrestigeThere is a model in the SUV side of the Genesis family that could get its own high-performance Magma version: the GV80. The GV80 is a mid-size crossover introduced in concept form in 2017 and has been sold since the 2021 model year. In 2023, a coupe version of the GV80 was introduced. The SUV went on sale in the US for the 2025 model year, with the crossover continuing to be produced alongside it.While the concept vehicle was equipped with an electric powertrain and a hydrogen fuel cell, the production model has a more conventional powertrain lineup. Two engine options are currently available for the GV80: a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-four producing 300 hp and a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 making 375 hp. The GV80 Coupe is available with the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 with an electric supercharger to offer 409 hp. The GV80 Magma, however, may have a completely different powertrain, and a V8 is not out of the question.Although the GV80 Magma is still very much only an idea at this stage, Genesis has expressed its intention to create Magma versions of several of its models. It’s likely the GV80 will be one of them. We are keeping our eyes peeled for a future GV80 Magma wearing the division’s signature bright orange shade. Gran Equator Production Status: We Can Dream Genesis X Gran Equator Concept - 06Genesis is venturing off the beaten track with this unique concept vehicle, which was introduced earlier this year. The X Gran Equator blends a sleek, sci-fi-inspired look with a boxy silhouette and rugged elements, making it suited for off-roading. Its name is derived from a horse considered to be the world’s finest Arabian stallion: a symbol of power and elegance. The stacked lighting elements at the front immediately identify the X Gran Equator as a Genesis, while the clean, minimalist profile gives the SUV a modern, high-tech character. The long hood injects a slightly vintage element into an otherwise highly futuristic vehicle. Some of the more rugged features that clearly mark the X Gran Equator as an off-roader include dark wheel-arch cladding, integrated roof rails, geometric auxiliary lamps, and 24-inch beadlock wheels wearing all-terrain tires.According to Genesis Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke, the X Gran Equator’s design is centered around “harmonization of contrasts,” combining "elegance with ruggedness, and the spirit of exploration with refined comfort."The vehicle’s interior is similarly rich in contrast, with analog and digital elements existing alongside each other. The look of vintage camera dials inspires the four-circle display cluster. The geometric theme, modular storage, and swiveling front seats also contribute to the overall retro-futuristic vibe.Unfortunately, the X Gran Equator is not earmarked for production anytime soon. However, some of its design DNA may show up in other members of the Genesis lineup in the near future. GV90 Production Status: Confirmed Genesis GV90 Spy Photos (14)-1The GV90 is an upcoming SUV that will slot in above the GV80 in the Genesis lineup. Although the only images we have of the GV90 so far are spy shots and a leaked press image that doesn’t show much detail, we do have plenty of images of the GV90’s concept predecessor, which did get an official introduction to the world: the Neolun. The Neolun concept made its debut at the 2024 New York International Auto Show, alongside the GV60 Magma. Its name derives from the Greek word “neo”, or new, and the Latin word “luna”, or moon. The name is connected to the vehicle’s design. According to Donckerwolke, “the Neolun Concept was inspired by Korea’s iconic moon-shaped porcelain jars, [...] it’s the epitome of timeless design and sophisticated craftsmanship.”The Neolun is created on the principle of “reductive design”, with a minimalist look and few unnecessary details. From the limited images we have, the production GV90 looks broadly similar to the Neolun, although lower trim levels may have slightly different wheels than the ones seen on the concept. One of the key visual features of the GV90, which has also contributed to its launch being delayed, is its door design. The GV90 has pillarless coach doors, which were previewed in the Neolun concept and are confirmed to be part of the production model’s design as well. These doors are quite difficult to build while meeting modern safety standards; as a result, the GV90 experienced some delays on its journey to the dealership. However, it looks like the company is working hard to develop a solution: the GV90 may be with us sooner than we think.Sources: Genesis
