The Breakdown: Ford offers a bespoke purchasing and delivery process for the GTD. A Mustang GTD buyer took delivery of their car at a Porsche dealer. The Mustang looks massive next to a row of 911s. The Mustang GTD is a special kind of Ford. It has a starting price of over $300,000, a limited production run, and a bespoke purchasing process that includes delivering the 815-horsepower Mustang anywhere you want—and we mean literally anywhere. One recent GTD buyer took delivery of his Mustang in an unlikely spot: his local Porsche dealer. He posted about it on Reddit with the caption, "Ford wasn’t kidding when they said they’d deliver a GTD wherever I wanted." The owner selected a stunning green exterior color for the coupe, with an exposed carbon-fiber hood and roof and a yellow racing stripe down the middle. Under the hood is a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine that can propel the car to over 200 miles per hour. The Mustang looks massive—and out of place—sitting next to a row of Porsche 911s, but Ford has been adamant about going the extra mile for buyers. Just over a month ago, the Ford Mustang Instagram page made a post highlighting a GTD delivery with a caption quoting the GTD’s brand manager, Joe Bellino. Bellino said: 'Every Mustang GTD delivery is coordinated directly with the owner and personally orchestrated by Ford. On delivery day, our team works alongside the specialized carrier to manage final details, perform a pre-delivery inspection, and prepare the car to be show-ready for its first reveal. It’s the owner’s day and a big moment, so it’s our role to make it as seamless, informed, and unforgettable as possible.' Motor1’s Take: Ford is serious about pleasing its customers, even if it means delivering its high-priced 911 GT3 RS competitor to a Porsche dealer. The GTD is a different type of product for the automaker, and going above and beyond for the customer is expected at this price point. We want your opinion! What would you like to see on Motor1.com?
