We all know the new Corvette ZR1X is fast, but there comes a point when every great prizefighter hits the canvas. Recently, a ZR1X took on a Dodge SRT Challenger Demon 170. Yes, that muscle car designed solely to dominate a drag strip, and won. We, like many people, were shocked at how easily the Corvette supercar smoked the Demon 170, but when this $250,000 Corvette supercar is lined up against multi-million hypercars it's probably time to know its limits. There is no way that a Corvette is going to match up to a $3.5million Koenigsegg Jesko, let alone a Rimac Nevera EV hypercar with 1,914 horsepower. Right?...right? The ZR1X Lined Up To Drag Race Hypercars Worth Ten Times Its Price To make this race happen, enter entrepreneur and car enthusiast Steve Hamilton. Steve runs YouTube channel The Hamilton Collection, where he races cars like his Rimac and his 2,000-horsepower Nissan GT-R against anything that crosses its path. In a recent episode, Steve had a chance to pitch his $3.5 million Koenigsegg Jesko against a $250,000 Corvette ZR1X (supplied by Paragon Performance) in a drag race. The Jesko hyopercar packs a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 1,280 horsepower, while the 'Vette, which costs ten times less, has 1,250 horsepower for its twin-turbo LT7 V8, making it America's most powerful car. The winner has the dubious honor of taking on the near-2,000-horsepower Rimac Nevara EV, a car which has annihilated everything in its path so far. The Result Is Shocking The Hamilton Collection/ YouTubeThe race isn't even close. The ZR1X beats the Jesko by several car lengths over a quarter mile. "Dang that thing is fast," says Steve behind the wheel of the Jesco. The times show that neither car is close to its factory acceleration times, probably down to cold tires and strong headwind, but the reality is that Corvette made the exotic Koenigsegg look slow in this particular race. It's time to pitch the ZR1X against the Rimac. Steve sums it up. "Nothing has come this close to the Rimac. We stopped racing it against stuff cuz it beats everything. But the ZR1X is the only production car that stands a chance against this." It's time to find out if his prophecy is true. The 'Vette Has Its Biggest Challenge In The Form Of The Rimac YouTube/ The Hamilton CollectionThe 2024 Rimac EV has a quad-motor electric powertrain with one, independent permanent-magnet electric motor for each wheel. The official sprint to 60 mph is 1.74 seconds, and the car has broken numerous records. The Corvette shouldn't stand a chance. The reality is that the Corvette gets away quicker, leaving the Rimac to catch up. At the end of the quarter mile, the race goes to a photo finish — it's that close. While there seems to be no more than a handful of inches in it, the data shows that the Rimac was 0.06 seconds faster over the quarter mile. That's pretty much a dead heat. The fact that the Corvette doesn't even sell for the same money as most supercars, let alone exotic hypercars, makes the fact that it is able to take on anything on the road even more incredible. Not bad for a car that dates back to 1953, and started off with just 150 horsepower. Maybe it's time for those naysayers to recognize the C8 Corvette as the supercar killer that it is.Sources:
