Aston Martin Formula One driver Fernando Alonso was recently spotted driving past the Casino de Monte-Carlo in his Aston Martin Valiant, a menacing 735-hp supercar that he helped develop. Only 38 examples of the Valiant were built, with each costing around $2.5 million.Based on the Aston Martin Valour, the Valiant is designed for those seeking a raw, mechanical driving experience, which is why Aston Martin did away with paddle shifters or an automatic transmission. Instead, the supercar comes exclusively with a manual gearbox paired with a front-mounted, twin-turbocharged 5.2-liter V12 that produces 555 lb-ft of torque.Power is sent to the rear wheels, and the rest of the Valiant's setup reads like a manifesto for the uncompromising driving enthusiast. Every decision Aston Martin made points toward one goal: putting the driver in complete control. For most, that would be a significant challenge. For Alonso, with his F1-sharpened instincts, it is simply how he prefers his cars.Image Credit: monaco_luxurystyle / InstagramAdvertisementAdvertisementVisually, one of the biggest differences between the Valour and the Valiant is the addition of a large rear spoiler on the latter. The Valiant began as a one-off supercar after Alonso requested an even more extreme version of the Valour. However, Aston Martin eventually decided to build 38 examples, all of which sold out. Alonso's vision for the Valiant was simple: to create a track-inspired version of the Valour. Aston Martin reported his statement:"Valiant is born from my passion for driving at the limit. From Valour, I wanted to create a more extreme, race car inspired version that was track focused, while also delivering a thrilling drive on-road. Working with the Q by Aston Martin team, I believe we have created a masterpiece."Alonso's Aston Martin Valiant was recently caught on camera, with footage of the ultra-rare supercar going viral on Instagram. The dark gray Aston drove past the cameraman, announcing its presence with the unmistakable growl of its V12 and the imposing rear wing.Aston Martin Valiant Performance SpecsEngine Type: 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12Horsepower: 745 PS / 735 hpTorque: 753 Nm / 555 lb-ftTransmission: 6-speed manual with an exposed linkageDrivetrain: Rear-wheel drive (RWD) with a mechanical limited-slip differentialTop Speed: Estimated around 200 mph (322 km/h)0–60 mph Acceleration: Low 3-second range (approx. 3.3 seconds)
