The Aston Martin DBX GT Turns Up the LuxuryAston MartinWhen Road & Track spoke to Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark at the 24 Hours of Le Mans earlier this year, he promised that the British ultra-luxury brand would be introducing more comfortable and dynamically laid-back variants of some of its existing model line-up. This is the first of them: the Aston Martin DBX GT.This more relaxed take on the SUV combines the revised powertrain that made its debut in the brawnier DBX S, but with a more comfort-focused suspension tune and design tweaks. It's a car, the company says, "aimed at customers who prefer assured elegance over sporting aggression."Aston MartinThe GT is distinguished by a new double-vaned radiator grille, plus a deeper bumper up front. The flanks pick up new finishers with Aston Martin branding and metal window trim where the DBX S uses dark materials. At the rear, the new variant uses body color for the diffuser element under the bumper and two pairs of exhaust tailpipes, one on each side of the car. New design satin-finish 22-inch wheels wearing Pirelli all-season tires will be standard, while 23-inch rims will be optional, as will a sports tire upgrade. In the cabin, there is some new trim embroidery and an anodized finish for the rotary drive mode selector. Both front and rear seats have "enhanced cushioning, redefined bolstering, and carefully engineered custom curves to balance dynamic support and everyday usability." The seats also get an additional 0.4 inches of memory foam, for additional comfort. Aston claims each front seat requires the use of 2260 feet of thread and 3297 perforation holes. There's also more sound-deadening and thicker carpets.Aston MartinThe base powertrain is shared with the DBX S, a 4.0-liter AMG-sourced twin-turbo V-8 that produces peaks of 717 hp and 663 lb-ft and sends power to each corner through a nine-speed automatic gearbox using a wet clutch instead of a torque converter. Carbon-ceramic brakes will be standard, with 16.5-inch diameter discs up front and 15.4-inch rotors at the back.Aston MartinBut while the hardware is familiar, the GT has revised calibration for its adaptive dual valve dampers and the active anti-roll system, plus a redesigned exhaust system with a "cleaner, richer tone that eliminates harsh metallic frequencies. It will also be quieter in the softest GT dynamic mode.First deliveries of Aston's latest model start by the end of the year, but we don't have finalized pricing for the DBX GT yet.If You Can Only Own One Car, Make It One of TheseThese Are the Most Popular Cars by State
