Aston Martin, a company synonymous with speed and style, revealed one very stylish and one very fast new variant of its DB12 Super Tourer in Singapore ahead of the F1 Singapore Grand Prix. Meet the Aston Martin DB12 S, the $1 million luxury speed machine that is as appealing to the eye as it is to the driver.Featuring a striking and aggressive reworking of the original body of earlier DB12 models, the S comes with some exciting changes. In the front end, a dual splitter system has been added that lowers the car even closer to the track and widens the car's profile. On the hood, vents, or louvers, come standard and give the DB12 S that extra bit of detail that does numbers for an already visually striking car. In the back, a fixed rear wing and a brand-new diffuser come coupled with quad exhaust tailpipes. Not only are these changes aesthetically pleasing, but they improve the aerodynamics of the car significantly too.But no upgrade is complete without Aston Martin giving the S some care beneath the hood as well. Though the engine itself remains unchanged from previous models, the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that powers the car now makes 19 hp more than before, bringing the grand total to 690 hp and 590 lb ft of torque. This shaves a tenth from the 0-62 mph time, down to 3.5 seconds. The top speed remains unchanged, however,, still topping out at a maximum of 202 mph.Elsewhere beneath the hood, the transmission has been significantly revamped. Shifts in the S take a mere 120 milliseconds, which is a 43% reduction in time from the previous DB12 models. The braking system comes standard with carbon-ceramic discs, which can withstand temperatures as high as 800°C. The chassis is monitored by an Electronic Stability Programme, which reads driver inputs and receives live data from around the car to maximize responsiveness and driver control.Last but not least, the interior of the car is as striking as the outside. The cabin is clad with Alcantara, hand-stitched leather, and carbon. The seats are fully leather and sit low to the ground, giving them a motorsport feel. The seats also feature a stitched "S" logo, adding to Aston's immense care and attention to detail. The center console and dashboard are a mix of touch screen and physical buttons, not too distinct from the majority of modern cars. And to top it off, the ignition button features the famous Aston Martin wings and is encased in a grooved, red dial that unleashes the 690 hp beast that is the DB12.While Aston Martin struggles in the world of motorsport, especially F1, where it will hope for good results in Singapore, it is safe to say that the company has already won off the race track with this stunning beauty of a car.
