By the end of 2026, Dongfeng Nissan will launch 5 new energy models, covering SUVs and sedans with various powertrain types including all-electric, plug-in hybrid, and range-extender. On January 27, the all-new mid-to-large-size new energy SUV from Dongfeng Nissan, the NX8, officially rolled off the production line. The Nissan NX8 is the third model in Dongfeng Nissan’s ‘N Series’, following the all-electric sedan N7 and the plug-in hybrid sedan N6. Built upon the ‘Tianyàn Architecture’, it offers dual power choices: all-electric and range-extender. According to official information, the new car is set to make its official debut in the first half of this year. In terms of dimensions, the Nissan NX8 measures 4870 mm in length, 1920 mm in width, and 1680 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2917 mm, positioning it as a ‘large five-seater’ mid-to-large SUV. Design-wise, it features a closed front fascia, a floating roof, and hidden door handles. The rear is equipped with a full-width taillight composed of 2064 OLED light units, supporting customizable light patterns. Regarding intelligent features, the new vehicle is equipped with a sensor system comprising a roof-mounted lidar, an 8-megapixel front-view camera, and multiple surround-view cameras. It is worth noting that this system was jointly developed by Dongfeng Nissan and the domestic autonomous driving company Momenta, specifically optimized for China’s complex road conditions. Reportedly, it can achieve ‘three-stage intelligent driving coverage’: highway NOA, urban NOA, and full-scenario automated parking. Additionally, the new car will also feature an 800V high-voltage platform and CATL’s 5C ultra-fast charging technology. The mass production rollout of the NX8 is merely the prelude to Dongfeng Nissan’s new energy offensive. Official data shows that Nissan Motor sold 653,000 new vehicles in the Chinese market in 2025. Thanks to the strong sales of highly localized new energy models like the Nissan N6 and N7, Nissan managed to contain its sales decline in China to 6%, a significant improvement from the 12% drop in 2024. According to the plan, by the end of 2026, Dongfeng Nissan will launch 5 new energy models, covering SUVs and sedans with various powertrain types including all-electric, plug-in hybrid, and range-extender.
