He was happy to have finally received a response on the concept superbike.AdvertisementAdvertisementHowever, the response was not the kind he was hoping for. It was Ferrari's legal team that had gotten in touch with him.The Barracuda Was Perceived by Many as a Real MotorcycleImage Courtesy: kardesignkoncepts on InstagramKar Lee, who identifies himself as a motorcycle concept artist on Instagram, posts concepts of stunning motorcycles or liveries that have not made it to production.Lee created a mind-blowing Ferrari superbike concept called the Barracuda. However, the carousel post explains how the design went viral on social media, ultimately resulting in a notice from Ferrari's legal team. He wrote:"Back in 2024, I visualized a concept called the Ferrari Barracuda."I asked a simple question: What if Ferrari built motorcycles?"AdvertisementAdvertisementLee's work spread far and wide as the post impressed people greatly. He wrote:"It was one of my most popular posts on Instagram and Facebook."Over 350,000 likes in total, with thousands of comments. People loved it."He added that some reports on YouTube even portrayed it as a real motorcycle:"YouTube channels ran with it as if it was real. It was all over websites, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok."Lee Received a Letter From FerrariThe viral post made Lee wonder if "Ferrari would notice it." They did. He wrote in the next slide:"They sent me a letter. A respectful and professional letter...at that... From their lawyers.""Ferrari were concerned about the use of their branding on a concept from a designer that looked believable and official," he added.AdvertisementAdvertisementLee said he was asked to take down all the posts:"They asked me to remove all of my Ferrari Barracuda posts."In 20 years of visualising and sharing motorcycle concepts I'd never been asked to take down one before. I was gutted."Lee did what they asked him to do. He wrote:"I complied with their request."NGL I was disappointed, but I could understand why."He added:"Ferrari fiercely defend their iconic brand."And the success of the Barracuda concept weirdly went against the post as people thought - hoped - it was real and officially sanctioned."However, Lee suggested that there will be many out there who will continue to create such motorcycle concepts. He wrote:AdvertisementAdvertisement"There have been many, many Ferrari motorcycle fantasies over the years, and there will continue to be. Just not by me."Notably, the image of the Barracuda in the Instagram post is missing the Ferrari logo. But that raises an important question - should Ferrari consider building a motorcycle?
