Lewis Hamilton Reveals His Barn-Find Ferrari F40FerrariI don't care what age you are, when you got into cars, or what's sitting in your personal collection at the moment: the Ferrari F40 is the king of supercars. It is only fitting then that the driver with the most wins in Formula 1 history, who's also currently Ferrari's own F1 hotshoe, would have one in the garage. Yes, Sir Lewis Hamilton has found yet another way to make us jealous, as on Monday, he posted his freshly-restored, barn-find F40 on Instagram for the world to see.Lewis's love for the iconic Prancing Horse is nothing new, having publicly expressed in years past that the F40 sits right at the top of his list of dream cars. He even carefully selected the F40 to help introduce his role at Ferrari Formula 1, in a series of utterly iconic photos. The F40 remains a high-mark for automotive enthusiasts decades after its 1987 sales debut, when Sir Lewis was just two years old. Part of that staying power surely has to do with the fact that the F40 was the first production car to break the 200 mph barrier. It's also the last car to be signed off on by Enzo Ferrari before his death in 1988, which doesn't hurt. Plus, just look at the damn thing. In my incredibly objective opinion, there's simply never been a cooler car, and nothing will ever come close again. Luckily, I have some someone to help back up those claims."My very own F40," Hamilton said in the Instagram post. "This is the car of my dreams and has been for as long as I can remember. As a kid I dreamt of having one. When I joined Ferrari last year I made sure to have one with me on my first day at Maranello. That's how much it means to me."AdvertisementAdvertisementWhile Lewis can certainly afford to buy any F40 that might come up for sale, he took a different path than most. Instead of purchasing a concours-ready unit from a collector, Hamilton got his hands on a true "barn find." The car had spent more than three decades in storage, and required quite a bit of touching up. Luckily, Lewis happens to have a few people handy to help with such things in a little town called Maranello, Italy.Ferrari"These cars are works of art and incredibly rare, so when I found this one, covered in dust after being sat in a garage for over thirty years, I knew I had to bring her home," added Lewis. "First to Maranello, where the master engineers and mechanics at the factory worked for weeks to bring her back to life. Massive thank you to everyone who had a hand in this project. This has truly been a dream come true. I can't wait to share more with you all. Stay tuned …"I, for one, cannot wait for Lewis to share more of his F40 journey with us. Given how well he handled Takeshi Kimura's famous F40 ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix with Kim Kardashian riding shotgun, we're surely in for a treat. That is, assuming that the seven-time champ manages to find some free time to give the car some exercise. I've heard that Fiorano is lovely this time of year, however...You Might Also LikeIf You Can Only Own One Car, Make It One of TheseThese Are the Most Popular Cars by State
