This model, also known as the Great Seagull (Da Haiou), will shortly enter the domestic market. It is 425 mm longer than the ongoing first-gen model. General manager of BYD’s Ocean network sales division, Zhang Zhuo, shared the official design sketches of the new BYD Seagull. Previously, he reported that this model will enter the domestic market under the “Great Seagull” name. However, he called this model “the second-gen Seagull” in the latest post. Sketches of the second-gen BYD Seagull The shared design sketches reflect the development process of this urban hatchback. It adopts large trident-shaped headlights, sharp body surfaces, and wide wheel arches. A lowered glass line aims to create a more dynamic look. It was highlighted that the new Seagull adopts a “completely new layout” with expanded interior space. Other highlights include eight-spoke 16-inch rims and thin taillights. The second-gen BYD Seagull was previously spotted in the wild in China. It also applied for a domestic sales license, revealing core specs. It offers dimensions of 4205/1810/1570 mm and a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. For clarity, it is 425 mm longer than the regular BYD Seagull. Moreover, the new car is only 65 mm shorter than the BYD Dolphin. The second-gen BYD Seagull The new BYD Seagull adopts a single electric motor for 95 kW (127 hp) powered by a FinDreams-made LFP battery. Two FinDreams-made LFP battery options are available: 30 kWh and 39.2 kWh, suitable for 320 – 420 km of CLTC range. The top speed reaches 150 km/h. The new model adopts a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. It is part of the DiPilot 300 (“God’s Eye B”) assisted driving system. Its functionality includes the Navigate On Autopilot (NOA) function on urban roads and highways. The earlier spy photos of the second-gen Seagull’s cabin revealed a floating screen, a gear shifter behind the wheel, and a sizeable center tunnel. The ongoing BYD Seagull delivered 74,087 units from January to August 2026, down 66.5%, according to China EV DataTracker. Its price range lies between 69,900 and 85,900 yuan (10,440 – 12,830 USD).
