When you're driving a BMW or a Mercedes-Benz, the flex isn't just that you can afford the car, it's that you can afford the maintenance, and the premium fuel, and the insurance. Pricier cars tend to come with a higher cost of ownership, so pulling up in a 5 Series sedan doesn't mean you had one lucky break, it means you've achieved a certain level of sustainable success.Asian luxury automakers like Lexus, Infiniti, and Acura have generally offered a more sensible alternative to the flashier European brands. Comparable performance, upscale cabins, similar features, but at a lower price, and with lower ownership costs, and generally more reliable, than their German competitors. Here are five Acuras that look very attractive next to some of their pricier Deutschland counterparts. The following Acura models have been selected for their ability to match or outshine competing BMW, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz models across a variety of categories, including performance, luxury amenities, off-roading capability, range, and the availability of options such as manual transmission. Acura MDX The Base Acura MDX Offers A Cushier Cabin Than Some Top-Spec German SUVs 2026 Acura MDXMany German SUVs have a higher power ceiling than the MDX, which taps out at 355 horsepower in the Type S, compared to, for instance, 510 hp in the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLE 580. But, the MDX is more livable as a daily driver if you're looking at interior space and standard features. The Acura MDX has an inch of legroom on the Mercedes-Benz GLE, and a $90,000 GLE 580 won't get you heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, or adaptive cruise control without spending extra, all of which come standard in an entry-level MDX. We can split hairs regarding build quality and premium materials, but these are three major luxury features that come standard in the Acura, but not in the competing Mercedes. That feels like a win for Acura. Acura Integra The Acura Integra Is Available With A Manual Transmission, Entry-Level BMWs Are Not 2026 Acura Integra A-Spec with Technology PackageThe Acura Integra is available as an entry-level model with a CVT for $33,400, or you can spend a lot more money on a 320-hp Integra Type S at $53,400. We say the sweet spot, if you want an affordable, driver-oriented car, is the $39,200 entry-level model with a six-speed manual transmission. It feels every bit like a premium vehicle, but you're spending less than you might on a mid-range SUV.For 2026, the BMW 3 Series starts with the 330i sedan, which offers a decent 255 hp, but it's only available with an eight-speed automatic transmission. In order to get a new BMW with a manual transmission, you'll need to look at pricey performance models like the $69,000 2026 BMW M2, or the M3s, which will have you spending a bare minimum of $80,000 after taxes. If Acura has plans to discontinue the manual transmission in the Integra, we haven't caught wind of them. Acura ZDX The Acura ZDX Type S Matches The Audi RS e-Tron GT's Range At A Fraction Of The Price Acura ZDX Type S Overhead Rear Angle DrivingWhen we're talking about electric cars with 500–1,000 hp, range might not be the biggest thing on your mind. Even so, it's worth noting that the Acura ZDX and the Audi RS e-Tron GT both deliver 278 miles on a full charge. The GT has quite a few horses on the ZDX, with 912 hp on tap to the ZDX's 500 hp, but, at that point, you're running circles around everything else on the road, either way.The ZDX is currently trending at about half its original MSRP, while a new RS e-Tron GT will cost you at least $167,000. While the Audi is clearly the more impressive performer in this instance, you could buy four or five ZDXs for the price of a single GT. Those savings will continue throughout the lifetime of the vehicle, as well, with RepairPal estimating an annual maintenance cost of just $416 for the ZDX, making it a fairly low-maintenance EV, while the Audi will cost you around $774 each year, according to CarEdge. Acura TLX Type S The 2025 Acura TLX Type S Gives The BMW M4 A Run For Its Money At A Steep Discount 2025 Acura TLX A-SpecA 2026 BMW M4 Coupe is listed with a starting MSRP of $82,200, with a 473-hp powertrain getting you up to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds. The TLX S-Type comes in a little over a hundred horses shy of that lofty number, but, at a price difference of $24,150, you're only losing 0.4 seconds off the takeoff. The Acura TLX runs an all-wheel drive setup with a 10-speed automatic transmission, while the BMW M4 is a rear-wheel drive coupe with a six-speed manual transmission. Both pack a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6. One key difference is that the BMW M4 is a twin-turbo, while the Acura packs a single turbocharger. This ultimately gives the M4 the edge on the drag strip, but by a thinner margin than you might expect. Acura RDX The Acura RDX Stands Alongside The G-Class As A Solid Off-Roader 2025-2026 Acura RDX front 3/4 lowWe like the Acura RDX as a luxury off-roader for a few reasons. First of all, it's all-wheel-drive-standard. Second, you've got 8.2 inches of ground clearance. The 280 lb-ft of torque will get you over moderately gnarly terrain, and you've got a nice-short wheelbase of just 108.3 inches, sitting right between the two and four-door Wranglers, and making for a more versatile, nimble exploration vehicle than a massive Mercedes-Benz G-Class, with its 113.8-inch wheelbase. This isn't to say that the RDX is flat out the better adventure vehicle of the two in every way, only that it's somewhat easier to maneuver around winding trails, while the G-Class's dimensions can feel cumbersome to less experienced adventurers. In any event, the G-Class costs three times what you're spending on an Acura RDX without being three times the luxury off-roader, making the RDX the clear winner when it comes to the value proposition, if not overall power output.
