HRC Now Selling Restored Honda Race CarsAcuraHonda has been competing in all kinds of two-wheel and four-wheel racing ever since the company's inception, from a first Formula 1 win in 1965 to today's championship-dominating IndyCar program. More than 60 years of racing means plenty of historic race cars and bikes have been produced by the company—and on Wednesday, motorsport division HRC announced its new plans to restore, maintain, and support those vehicles for private owners. The hallmark of the operation, called the HRC Heritage Racing Program, is the restoration service now being offered at HRC US headquarters in Santa Clara, California. That shop, the same one that supports HRC US operations like the ARX-06 IMSA program, offers full tear-down restorations based on original documentation and archival photographs. Once the restoration is complete, HRC offers trackside support from its own staff of engineers to historic racers buying the cars.AcuraThe first car included in this program is an Acura ARX-01a, the first sports car racer built specifically for Acura and the first in a line of cars that includes the current Daytona-winning ARX-06. HRC says that this specific car, which raced in a SiriusXM livery for Andretti Green Racing as part of the American Le Mans Series LMP2 category, won its class on debut at Sebring in 2007.Honda may be pausing its Acura-branded IMSA GTP program again next year, but its racing operations continue in America with a new IndyCar engine set to be attached to the new IR28 chassis. And buyers looking to own an HRC product but not quite operating in the historic prototype racer price range should soon have a chance to own an often-teased new variant of the Civic Type R that has carried the racing imprint's badging in concept form. You Might Also LikeIf You Can Only Own One Car, Make It One of TheseThese Are the Most Popular Cars by State
