Wafting along in comfort was once much more important than shaving a second or two off a car's lap time, but those days are mostly gone. An overemphasis on stiff suspension and sharp handling means that even some luxury cars jostle occupants around much more than they used to. However, there are still a good few comfortable cars out there that make the daily commute relaxing rather than taxing. In its most recent customer satisfaction study, Consumer Reports ranked the six most satisfying car brands for comfort and one that's the least satisfying. Here's what the results were. Most Satisfying Car Brands For Comfort2023 Genesis G90GenesisOf the six most satisfying car brands for comfort, four are traditional luxury automakers, which is no surprise. One is a premium EV maker and one builds only pickup trucks.Comfort applies not only to the ride, but also to seat comfort and the amount of road noise entering the cabin. Based on all that, these are the automakers that owners judged to be the most comfortable.RivianRivian R1SRivianIn our very first drive of the Rivian R1S SUV back in 2022, we immediately noticed how little wind noise made its way into the cabin at highway speeds. Ride comfort was also good, as were the firm but supportive seats. It's only in the third row where the lack of space was noticeable. Overall, though, Rivian's vehicles have a rugged nature that has not come at the expense of everyday comfort, which is why it's little surprise to see it make this list.Genesis2026 Genesis GV80GenesisGenesis generally subscribes to old-school standards of luxury. Its vehicles are not quite as sharp as German rivals, but they're exceptionally comfortable. Take the G80, for instance, which uses foam-filled tires to reduce road roar from the 20-inch wheels. We found the sedan to be a brilliant highway cruiser. But even something like the cheaper GV70 impresses with soft seats and superior refinement.Lincoln2025 Lincoln NautilusLincolnLincoln is another expected entry on this list of most comfortable vehicles. We drove the Nautilus Hybrid earlier this year and discovered a level of isolation that would be the envy of most Japanese and German competitors. The interior is noticeably tranquil, there are massaging seats, and it's a vehicle that's well-suited to long-distance driving. This approach extends to all other models in Lincoln's lineup.Related: I Drove the 2026 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid Black Label AWD. Here's My Honest ReviewAudi2027 Audi Q3AudiAcross most of its lineup, Audi has mastered the art of blocking out the din of traffic and the outside world once you close the door. While some newer Audis have taken a step back in quality, modern Audis still exhibit a very impressive standard of refinement. Even the small Q3 isolates occupants from road noise, and larger models are even better.BMW2027 BMW 7 SeriesBMWBelow range-topping models like the 7 Series, BMW is less known for outright comfort, as all its vehicles tend to have a sporting edge to the way they drive. But BMW has expanded far beyond its 'Ultimate Driving Machine' tagline in recent years; many BMWs have sacrificed some dynamism for greater comfort. Even the new 5 Series with M Sport suspension has a forgiving ride that makes it a worthy mile-muncher.Ram2025 Ram 1500 REVRamIt may come as a surprise to find a truck-only manufacturer on this list, but Ram is widely perceived as the maker of the most comfortable pickups on the market. We drove a Ram 1500 on 22-inch wheels this year across rougher Vancouver roads, yet it was still completely unruffled. The V8 engine sounds good under acceleration but settles into the background at a cruise, wind and tire noise aren't an issue, and even an empty bed didn't affect the ride. While none of the most comfortable car brands mentioned will come as a great surprise, many buyers may have expected Mercedes-Benz to get a mention over BMW and Audi, given that brand's emphasis on comfort.Related: These Are The Cars With Seats That Won't Ruin Your BackAcura Is The Lease Satisfying Brand For Comfort2024 Acura Integra Type SAcuraWe wouldn't have anticipated that a luxury brand would rank as the least satisfying for comfort, but that's where Acura finds itself. Our own experiences of recent Acuras were different. Even the small ADX had some of the most comfortable front seats in its class, while the lively Integra Type S was not at all unruly or harsh. But Acura's placement in the study may come down to philosophy. While brands like Buick, Lexus, and Lincoln go all-in on comfort, Acura models have always had a sporty bent, often sharing the quick steering and keen body control of the Hondas they're based on. This engaging demeanor may be perceived by some luxury-car buyers as too urgent and not as relaxing as expected.Comfort Is Subjective2026 Audi A8AudiUltimately, a driver's perception of comfort is largely individual, which is why an extended test drive is the best barometer of how satisfied you'll be with a new car. Some drivers prioritize cushy seats, others place emphasis on low noise levels, while even poor usability can impact how comfortable a new car is. If you're searching for a new car that's high on comfort, we'd recommend using studies like these as a supplementary piece of research rather than the deciding factor.Related: The Best EVs For A Cross-Country Road Trip In 2026
