2028 scout traveler and terra interior preview our first look inside NOVI, Mich. – The Scout Traveler SUV and Terra pickup are two of the most-anticipated new launches. With Scout CEO Scott Keogh confirming they'll be in customers' hands in 2028, the company is previewing the vehicles as they get closer to their arrival. We recently got up close with both the Traveler and the Terra at an event at Scout's Innovation Center in suburban Detroit, and for the first time we were able to see, feel and experience the cabins. We saw prototypes, but they're basically what Scout intends to build. The materials are impressive, with pleasing wood and leather broken up by colorful touchscreens. There's also an airy sunroof and a decent-sized second row. Scout made a point of having knobs and buttons, too. With heritage styling and a body-on-frame platform that rides on solid rear axles, the Scouts have plenty of retro charm. "I think we have a great proposition: Old school meets new school," Keogh said. Scout will sell a pure electric model and an extended-range electric variant (EREV). Originally produced by International Harvester from the 1960 to 1980, Scouts were among the first generation of off-roaders that captured the hearts of off-road and outdoor enthusiasts. Scout's powertrain will have up to 1,000 lb-ft of torque and be able to hit 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. The vehicles will be able to accommodate 35-inch tires and off-board 240-volts of electricity.
